New Fender Starcaster Tom Delonge ( Blink 182 )

6061432.jpg

No comments seem necessary , after failing his reconversion as a U.F.O guru /CIA propagandist , Tom Delonge gets a new signature model .
The main reason I posted this is because it is made in Indonesia , the price seems a bit lower than the Mexican artist series.

Is Fender bringing back asian made Fenders ? after the failure of the short-lived (2011-2012 ) Made in China Modern Player series , maybe they will give Indonesia a chance ?

Let's speculate wildly .

I liked the Modern Player series , the prices , after sinking very low on the used market have picked up and some models like the Modern Player Marauder are now becoming very sought after :

It looks like a cool guitar.

I think the Asian guitars are good or great, for the most part.

The big problem with the MIC Modern Player series was that goofy neck joint, that’s the reason I sold my Modern Player Telecaster Thinline Deluxe.

Looked great, played nice, good fit and finish, but it just felt “off” due to that neck joint.

I did some cosmetic modifications on it…looked awesome, just didn’t love the feel.

Fender has a few other Indonesian-made Fender-branded models - the Tele HH and the Jim Adkins JA-90 Tele off the top of my head; there may be others. These are made by Cort for Fender; at one point those were made in Korea but Cort moved production to Indonesia several years ago.

I thought those models were long gone , I never see these models on german sites ( Thomann, Music Store .. ) , and I can only find two french shops who still sell them , weird .

Maybe they just never sold as well in Europe as in the USA so the dealers don't stock them. I haven't checked any dealer sites but Fender lists them both in stock on the USA website - each has 3 colors and they are all listed as in stock.

It's actually a very impressive build. Just a solid guitar all around. I don't know about the innards, but externally, and play-wise, it's every bit as impressive as any of my Japan or USA guitars that cost twice, or in a couple cases thrice, as much. Plus, she's hawt.

I had a made in China Fender Modern Player Telecaster Thinline Deluxe (whew, the official name is a mouthful!), I did a few cosmetic mods too. The neck was 22 frets without an overhang, so it wasn't easily swapped with other Tele necks.
