I like it and think it is step forward.
But do we really need soft touch knobs? Soft touch knobs?!

Just do this:

The MM style TR adjuster doesn't bother me at all,it is MUCH better looking than the HORRIBLE looking head stock HOLE,I hope that Fender changes ALL their modern telecaster TR adjuster to the Elite ones.

The American Deluxe and now Elite are the modern Strats with all the bells and whistles.
If there's something new, it's this model they'll try it on.
It's a gross over-reaction to compare it to the Gibson ****-up.
If we see prices drop, we'll know people aren't accepting it.
It wouldn't stop me buying one if any of you kind chaps will stump up the readies.

I have nothing against prices dropping. Here in Europe Fender raised prices 10-20%, even for Squiers. 3 years ago Baja was 6500 swedish krona, now 8800. Lucky i got mine 2010 for 5900!
CVs cost now more than MiM standards 3 years back.

I like the idea, I'll reserve judgement until I've played one. It seems that the American Deluxe line and now the American Elite were the technological showpieces of the line, and that remains true. I believe the American Standards are supposed to be the most direct descendants of Leo Fender's original idea, and they should remain as such, even though I think the American Specials may actually spec out more traditionally.

Gibson's mistake may not have been quite so catastrophic had they restricted it to the Les Paul Standard, which has historically been their technological flagship, and left alone the Traditionals (duh!), Specials and Melody Makers.

As a previous poster said, however, if these fly off the racks, walls and shelves of guitar shops, all bets are off, and you may see them propagate across the line.

So many of us hate change, but like someone here mentioned ,the old trussrod nut wasn't really that convenient to use and I'm sure many necks became firewood after the nut stripped out( often because of using a metric allen wrench when you should have used a fractional sized wrench instead.I'd be very curious about how this works out.I wonder if these newer trussrods are available to us builders

I have that style adjuster on my OLP bari and like it a lot, very quick and convenient. The only criticism I have is that the edges of the holes burr easily, so you have to be careful to use the right size key. The ones on the Fender may be harder.

A steel guitar engagment.
I like the new TR adjuster. They still work on old '60's beaters although some had a smaller diameter wheel. Plus it fits the Tele style/design (function over form) and you don't have loosen or remove the neck, or remove the pickguard to adjust the rod while trying not to beat up the neck PU cover.

The bridge I'm still chewing on but that pickup mounting plate is ugly! I think we all need to play one just to see what's good and what blows hot air.

I'm of the opinion that "if it ain't broke don't fix it", just ask Gibson. Time will tell.
