Gibson strings in the J200. I like crisp, but there was just so much low end missing. Not the sound I am used to from a Super Jumbo..

Epiphone dropped the name "Masterbilt" on these models at the last minute before release. Retailers calling them Masterbilts are relying on the original paperwork Epiphone sent them.

AlbertoMilanese: disappointing to hear. I guess it brings home what amazing value the Sigmas are. I'm something of a Sigma super fan now. Their J160e model is amazing (I got that recently), and their solid Martin clones are also top notch.

bendingtens: that's fascinating, and it would explain why Thomann had it listed as a masterbilt.

gimmeatele: that's what I want to hear!! As I say, I really loved the tone in the Sweetwater demo - it sounded very Gibson-like to me, in a way that the Orville and Sigma both didn't. How is the setup?

20200908_143352.jpg 20201029_120145.jpg I've got the SG Faded P90 and the Les Paul Junior. Very impressed with them.

The LPJunior has an enormously fat neck...a D instead of a D. The only issue I had with it was that you couldn't turn the volume down to clean up the sound....it just sort of turned off at 7. I had a spare pot and replaced it and it was a bit better, but it wasn't until I compared the pickup height with my other P90 guitars that I realised it was way too low. Being a dogear I had to order spacer rings and after installing the right one it now behaves itself.
Very very pleased with it now.

I'd buy more of these new Epis if I could.

The only complaint I have is that the SG Special P90 only comes in Pelham Blue and Sparkling Burgundy....neither of which I like. I would've got one instead of the SG Faded P90 since I prefer a wraparound bridge, but over the years I've found liking the colour of a guitar to be important (and to me an SG has to be cherry red).

OK, first reviews are in the majority not good. Too bad in particular for the issues with the Crestwood, @backporchmusic , it was a real looker and I liked the attention to details like the nylon saddles. Maybe it was just a lemon and you can find a good one? It's possible (although not cool of course) that they're still getting their QC together. A badly affixed pickup in the J-200 would seem to attest to that…

I'm still ogling those Royal Tan Rivieras with a keen eye because they are BEAUTIFUL, an original Epiphone classic as much as the Casinos are (well… "inspired by" the 335, as it was Epiphone Kalamazoo, but still subtly different) and if they're well made and have a good neck, might be just the semi I want in my stable. Whenever I buy an Epi, I factor in that it might require a pickup upgrade.

    Keep the reviews coming!

    Sheesh AND...?

Don't leave us hanging, what do you think..?

Bummer on the Crestwood, I've been jonesing for one of those since the last range came and went....the mini hums were an extra incentive...Hope the new replacement is better.

I have a Masterbuild Accoustic, its easily as nice as my friends 3 times the price Takamine and many other acoustics i've tried.

I stopped playing it long enough to post it's picture. You want more? Nice chunky neck, small frets, solid, took two minutes to get it set up, though it was perfectly playable out of the box.

I got myself an Epiphone today...

But one that's considerably older that those "inspired by" models.

It's the one I was playing in that picture earlier in this thread.

I’ve always thought the Crestwood was awesome looking.

    That's beautiful!
I've been 'tracking' all the new Epis, since looking at ( and buying!) the SG's.

This Les Paul is beautiful, and gets really good reviews on build, neck, pickups.

    * looks like in the ' original/inspired' line, there is a '50's, a '60's, and the new '59 LP- now I want one, enjoy!

I think j200 are the biggest winners. There havn't been much alternative to the real deal. Only the epiphones with cutout (that many liked).

Andertons use the internal pickup when they show j200.this dude don't

It sounds like my Vintage all solid guild clone. bassy and bright with an even sustain.

3-piece neck is a step up from scarf joint even if we can't test it

I just saw a review of the new Casinos. Goodness, those are hideous finish colors.
