I do. Salts and Thinly cut Shellac are used to create the Zero finish base into the wood. Single coat of pure Lacquer (no oil plasticizer) is used to seal it since Shellac can't be used by itself as a protective barrier from the elements.
Any brand that will sell you pure nitrocellulose lacquer is fine. Use acetone or lacquer thinner (or mix both) to control gun flow or open time and oil if you want a more flexible coat without checking.
I also use lacquer retarder as a final coat to melt the surface smooth.

Hey gil would it be possible for you to explain your technique for salt drying? I tried looking into it and couldn't find much that was helpful as far as technique goes. Do you just apply saltwater periodically?

Here's the Solid Sly with early 57 style PAF's.
Being a HB equipped solid body it is easier for me to compare it to the traditional carved top Bone59.
The low neck angle is so sweet.. it plays very differently compared to a LP single cut and has that "can't put it down" effect on me.
Tone is very focused across the board with perfect balance between the PU's in all 3 positions. Very inspiring to play and the simple design combined with the low angle are magic.

    Here are some photos..
