My Squier Classic Vibe 60s Jazzmaster just arrived....damaged. I can't imagine it happened in transit, as it was shipped in the gig back and wrapped in bubble wrap. I emailed my sales guy at CME to make him aware. I really don't want to go to the trouble of sending it back and waiting again. I think I can live with it, whether or not I reglue the chip.

I don't know, man, that's quite the paint chip. I don't think I could live with that one!

Yeah, that’s one I’d send back too, myself... But on a positive note I didn’t realise they’d started fitting Mustang-style bridges as stock. Squier are doing a good job these days.

    Try for a biiiig discount.

That's really disappointing. But I really feel that has to go back.

If it's any comfort, it'll be worth waiting a bit longer for.

I hope that if you keep it you get some money back. To repair that would be a refin IMHO. Big money.

I could live with that but there'd be money coming back to me for sure.

If I did that to my own guitar I would be angry, and then get over it because I am the reason we cant have nice things. If it arrived that way I think I would have to send it back. Regardless of your decision I received my CVJM a few weeks ago and I really love it. I hope after all the hassle is over you do too.

Wow, that's not a paint chip, that's undressing the sucker!

It would be so difficult not to keep pulling at that paint...

But I'd replace it myself and get a fresh one. Something happened so that thing is peeling badly.

The crazy thing to me is how thick that finish is. It reminds me of the mosquitos from Jurassic Park encased in amber that the Dino dna was extracted from.

I'd have to send that one back.

I don't think you'll never be happy with that guitar.

ayyy, that'd be an insta-return from me. I can only imagine the scrapes & cuts your forearm would endure

I'd send it back. I'd also ask for a refund, and buy something that's finished better. That seems like it could easily happen more broadly. It looks like it popped right off.

Just curious, is that a surface prep issue at the factory? How could a chip that large come off in one piece? Seems improbable, but what do I know. It's kinda in a cool place to happen, right on the forearm slant.

Yup, insta-return for this guy too.

Unless you're 100% sure you'll never want to sell it (and I don't know how you could be), no-brainer.

Waiting sucks, but that's not gonna be the last bit that comes off. Looks like you've got a big crack going over to the back already.

Return it. They only way I could keep it is if they sent me a new one and said don't bother shipping the old one back.

Yeah, I would even ask. It would be gone. As it doesn’t appear to be impact damage, it probably isn’t done shedding its skin.

I think the guitar wants to be refinished in lacquer.."Here I'll make it easy for ya"
