No it's not country music despite the label. It's crap. I am a country boy that was raised on the real stuff and this isn't it. Occasionally I will hear a good song , but it's not country.

Roger on not much new but I am comforted by the huge existing catalog of the old greats.

Plus it is ingrained in a lot of music. Dylan, Ray Charles, and even Charlie Parker were big fans.

I did enjoy seeing Brooks and Dunn...wasn't crazy about pulling in guests to sing (Hootie and Blowfish ex front guy and Jason Aldean-earrings).

Great question and I'd like to read the OP's answer. My guess it would be like someone's response to "What is pornographic?" I'll know it when I see it!

Millions of people like new country, artists like Luke Bryan, Morgan Wallen, Jimmie Allen, etc. and buy their records, or download them. Country music is more popular than ever.

True! Would Hank Williams or Loretta Lynn have kept making records if they couldn't make a living doing it?

That's how I found Tyler Childers. I really like a lot of his stuff, and he's popular enough to get a Grammy nomination.

This guy has some great tunes . I’ve just discovered him in this last year . Good call

To be fair there are a lot of really good, new, country musicians out there. They just ain't gonna be on "New Years Eve live Nashville’s Big Bash”. There's both positive and negatives about that...

There’s a LOT of solid current guys. But like he said. Not gonna see them on some big tv get together.

You want some good currents groups. (Imo) Kolby Cooper, Koe Wetzel, Joshua Ray Walker (somewhat of a Dallas hero night now), Austin Meade, Charlie Crockett, Jessie Daniels, Tennessee Jet, Goes on and on.

Best way to find them, find one you like and see who he’s touring with. See who he shouts out in interviews.

I would say something that sounds more like Waylon Jennings , willie Nelson, Johnny cash , merle haggard , George jones - along those lines . Songs that don’t have a rap beat.but if someone’s onto modern country , more power to em. There’s worse stuff out there

You're not going to find a lot to like in any genre on prime time network TV, almost a definition of "Pop". You're also not going to find much stylistic purity anywhere; everybody grows up with Apple
tunes and the like, and any musician worth their salt is going to steal whatever they hear; all the world is fusion, but it's not all blindly commercial.

Like I say all the time, if it ain't got a fiddle and steel guitar, it ain't country music. I too, am sick of this Bro Country crap. Especially the ones that call themselves country music singers and they have a man-bun hairstyle. The silly S.O.B. that started that trend needs swift kick in the hindend of reality.
