I just found this ash body on Ebay. From Canada, I guess it will be a while befor it gets here.
Will get a stain of some sort and a poly coat and standard tele PU config.
I have a good Squier tele maple board neck for it too. 3a.jpg 3c.jpg

Nice. Northern Ash? If so, might be a bit heavy. Any idea as to the weight?

Looks like a pretty clean body! Good luck. What are you gonna go with in terms of pickups?

Well, I just read an afternote that this may not be the guitar I actually get,,,,What???
That was not there when I bought it, I got it specifically for that grain pattern. I hope I don't get burned by some lackluster slab...
I will take it as it comes.
He says it weighs 3 kg or 6.6 lbs...
I will probably do a P90 in front and A3 in the rear..

Heavy for me is good....More Mass = More Sustain
I have an ash tele that weighs 10lb 3oz. Twin P90.

If its not too late I would ask the seller to throw in some scraps of the same wood so you can practice your staining techniques.

It is shipped. I have tons of experience refinish, and finishing wood products. I spent years building rifles and doing gunstocks, been a gutiar tech/luthier since the 70's.

I will share my latest technique for doing colored clear finishes.
Get the color of choice, and there are many, at an artist supply store.
I use acrylic paint mixed with a bit of water and stain the wood then clear coat with water based poly by Verathane.. Hand rubbed (with a soft cloth), and buffed out with a buffing wheel. Here is a pic of one I just finished with a satin finish and the color is yellow ochre. Plenty of grain still visible.

I have several chrome ones off of different Teles, mostly Squiers.

Here is a mock up of it for now..Still needs to have some of the dark blue buffed out to match the trans blue. Hardware is not mounted yet, just set for pix.
PS, this is a different ash body I just acquired. the yellow is still working.

Personally I'm not a fan of the washed denim look, but for that grain pattern, it works. Looks good.
