Looks sharp, I didn't know they made the Baja in black.

Lucky thing Fender discontinued them, nobody wants 'em

For the uninitiated, how do we know we’re looking at a Baja?

An un molested 50's Baja model will have a nice full, soft v 21 fret neck with heel truss rod adjust, 4 position pickup selector switch, the S1 push/push switch on the vol pot and a "Custom Shop Designed" badged neck plate.

The bodies are Ash and the pickups are Broadcaster bridge and Twisted Tele in the neck, but of course these aren't always discernable without tearing open the guitar!

So in the pictures the OP shared, what did you see? 21 frets, heel adjusted truss rod & Custom Shop Designed neck plate.

I couldn't make out the 4 way selector, or the S1 in addition to the other items you mentioned; ash body & twisted tele pickups.

Can you make out the shape of the neck?

The desert sand ones are still out there. I had also been after one for a while and picked one up for £550 recently (bajas are going for £700+ on a good day in the UK).
Mine had the S1 and 4 way removed, but they included the original harness in the sale). Needed a quick fret level and crown but it's everything a Tele should be now, so don't stop looking!

OP the black ones just look so cool, well done... I've been tempted by a couple in the past, yours looks beautiful

I think a modern three layer pickguard with that white stripe would look even better.

Yeah... I was thinking that’s most likely what it was, but being chrome, hard to say for sure. The light reflects on the tone knob in a similar manner.

OP, are the neck edges rolled a bit?
