New Band

Mostly.
I can't type the entire story in one sitting and, I don't think anybody would read it if I did.
Anyway, I am a bit of a Mercenary when it comes to Bands. Who has the gig? Thats who I go with. Many of the people I have played with over the Years are every bit as bad about it as I am.
I had a Three Piece Band, went through two differnt Female Vocalists, then the Pandemic, All Stop.
Bass player was Moonlighting with two differnt Bands, 100% cool, all above board.
Drummer has a couple of Life crisises, he gives it up to take care of some far more important issues. He did so. It wasn't easy. His Life is changed forever but, now he is back.

Now it is Later.
My Drummer is playing with my old Bassist in a 5-piece.
One of their Guitar Players is leaving the band so, they called me!
They do a bunch of Covers that pose no problem at all.
They change Keys a LOT for the sake of the Singer. I'm Down with that!

The Band leader does Hotel California in E minor while playing a Guild 12-string.
I have been practicing that one on my Tele Baritone.
Playing in the same chord shapes as A minor, it works out pretty good.

Also, 14 Original Tunes that I have to Dial in for a two-nighter July 1 and 2.
Been a while since I have played with another Guitar player and Keys.
I have been practicing with them for a couple of weeks, I think we will be ok.

All sounds good to me!

I do the mercenary thing as well. It’s the only way in todays musical landscape to keep from getting a regular job. Unless you’re really in the upper echelons of the business, or don’t have any bills to pay, the possibility of making ends meet being in just one band just doesn’t exist.

Even the real “big time” pros I’m tight with play with other bands when their main gig isn’t touring. As long as like you said, everything is out in the open, I have no problem with folks making a living however they can.

No doubt, I’d love for the 80’s and 90’s to come back. When I could make a great living and only have to be in one band. But I don’t see that ever happening again.
