Bought a Strat from GC, liking the soft V neck but I really want a Tele. Didn't like the C neck on the AM Pro. Since I have 45 days to return either and based on recommendations here I just ordered a Baja with a V neck.

Is there any common issues that I need to look for with the Baja?

    Thanks

No real issues in my experience. It’s all good hardware and the overall build quality seems to be a bit above that of the Standard. I hope you found one to try, first. The neck is a handful: many folks like it, some don’t.

I do have concerns on the neck, but thought the deep c was kinda thin.

The necks on those seem to be what many like best on the Bajas.

Did you get the 50's Baja with the maple board? Those are some fine Teles :) Only issue with mine was the tone pot kind of gave up the ghost after 2 years, so I put an EVH in there as a replacement. 10 bucks, and probably only an issue if you use the tone knob lol

I've never played one, but going by reputation there's a risk that you'll love it too much, accompanied by a risk that you'll somehow sell it anyway, regret that, and buy another.

I LOVE the neck on my Baja. I have never regretted buying it for one moment, nor have almost all the people who have commented on theirs. I hope you like the neck, it's a great guitar.

New Baja not in the way! Out of stock at GC. I guess it will be an American Pro.

Or GC used site. Cheaper and you still get the 45 day return window.

A used Baja is one of the great bargain deals, in the Tele world.

    Just sayin'...….. :D

It’ll cost you more, but the Vintera 50s tele modified is the Baja with a new name, and a new price. Same chunky neck, pickups, and switching scheme. You said you didn’t like the Am Pro neck, so that doesn’t sound like good substitute, plus it’s a lot more than the vintera.... sweetwater has an ash model in butterscotch clocking in at 7lbs even (the other two colors are alder).

GC told me all the Bajas they had were real beat up.

I have read mixed reviews on the Vintera but will consider after spending time with the AmPro

Don’t. BUy a guitar you don’t like. Wait and look for a Baja on reverb or get the new vintera. Trust me and every Baja owner. Baja rule

Traded one a few years ago and missed it ever since. Recently had $ burning a hole in my pocket and was looking at AO 50s and AVRIs. A Baja just popped up locally for $400. Grabbed it and the GAS for a more expensive model was extinguished. Something about the Baja neck...I prefer it to almost anything I've tried over the past months I was shopping.

If you're patient, they pop up under $500, locally and online. They're a tremendous deal at that price.

People asking $1000 for a Baja have it priced to sit. If you prowl GC's or Sam Ash used listings, you'll grab one for $500 or less eventually.
