If you remember the 'on the road' tales of Bigsby, Mandy Marie's venerable basset hound who passes on a year ago this is 'Norton' (after the Mcycle).
How much cuter can you get ?

We used to have a basset hound in the neighborhood named Fred. He'd mosey over and visit when we had parties. He'd get picked up regularly by the dog catcher. Everyone looked after him when he was out. No one cared that he was away from home. He was a great dog.

Congrats to you and Mandy! What a face that puppy has. "And they call it, puppy looooove..."

I'm thinking about how a dog can quadruple his weight somehow when we're trying to move the animal and they don't wanna be moved.

That makes Norton a perfect name. Imagine that motorcycle, over on its side, and think about what it will take to get that Norton back upright!

I don't believe there is anything more cute than a basset hound puppy. Nothing.

Norton is a great name for a hound too. Bassets are definitely immovable objects when they want to be.

Congrats on the new pup! We used to have a Basset named George. I believe I told Mandy offline about his bout with priapism. Baby's arm, dude. (And a leaky primary.) I nearly fainted when I saw it. It picked VD up at the dog park when my sister-in-law was walking him. Horniest dog ever.

Trivia Note for the less Basset-educated: While they maybe be short, they are classified as large dogs. From what I understand, they have the greatest bone density of any dog. Our Basset was a solid 70 pounds, and he was not at all fat.

A neighbor years ago had an old Basset named Eli. Eli was big - about 80 pounds or more - and old. She would take Eli out for a walk, they would get a mile or so from home, and Eli would decide he was tired, sit down, and refuse to move. She would drag him to a tree, tie him up, and go get the car.

We would see her running home, without Eli. A "Where's Eli?" would always get the response "Tied to a tree. Gotta get the car and go get him."

Great dog, lots of personality, easy going, and friendly. From what I understand, this is the nature of Bassets. Congrats on the new pup.

    Norton eh?

Get him sprayed black with a little tasteful gold pin-striping.
