The wife and I took a road trip last Wednesday to pickup up a second Australian Shepherd. We've owned a Red Merle for 6 1/2 years. This time we chose a Wild Blue Merle with tan and white cross markings. His name is G. W. McClintock Miller. I was fortunate enough to know a Red Merle for 17 1/2 years . A truly wonderful breed . Since you already have one , I won't caution you about their intellect . Be very careful what you show/allow them to do because they are impossible to untrained . Show them once and it is game over . Yeah , I lied .
    ENJOY !

Had a blue merle, smartest dog ever, we had a bunch of my GF's daughters friends over (7 and 8 year old girls) and being kids they started running around screaming, well the dog goes to work and pushes them with her head (no mouth no teeth) into her daughters bedroom.
She rounded them all up and got them into her room, funniest thing I ever saw.

Any way I'm glad it's not your first aussie, they needs lots of exercise so you already know that.

Had a brown male Aussie 15 years ago.. We were best buds.. He would bite my hand anytime I touched his front feet.. I didn't touch his feet too much..

    Cute.

Our Chester is about the same age (7). Mutt but mostly Aussie and Border Collie. He’s the black one on the bottom. Even though his look favors the BC a little he’s actually more Aussie than anything else.

We did something similar and got Luna when he was about 6 1/2. She’s another mix - mostly Boxer and Cattle dog. She’s the tan one on top, about 9 months now. She looks more compact but is a little bigger and heavier. He’s just bushier.

So both smart, strong-willed workers. Lots of walks and lots of training.

At first we were unsure. We’d never had two dogs and Chester wasn’t so sure about her. Took a good 8 months but now they are best buds. They play multiple times a day. Chester seems about 3 years younger and much happier, which is what we hoped for. Luna is a delight.

Congrats. Enjoy that new pup and give the dog lots of love.

Good! Maybe he can start fielding questions on here about "why's my guitar humming?"

He's a handsome dog for sure.

We're on Aussie #3 and they have all been amazing members of our family. While they require more engagement than your average bear, it is all rewarded with a fantastic bond with an intelligent, athletic, and spunky partner to keep you on your toes. At this point, I could never own a couch potato or a foo-foo dog. :D

My wife Debi and I both loved John Wayne's movie McClintock and I remembered no one ever called him by his name which was George Washington McClintock. Even his wife called him G.W. I did the same with our first Aussie. He was and is very small from the get go, (runt of the litter). Virtually miniature. I picked the name Dalton because of the Patrick Swayze movie Roadhouse. The catch phrase used over and over throughout the movie was "I thought you'd be bigger".
