So some time back I picked up one of these, a Firefly Junior copy
    [IMG]
(I am aware the bridge is a little weird, the plan has always been to slap a horseshoe bigsby on there)

And then just very recently I've been mulling over which of my guitars I was going to gift to a young guy who's just getting started, and this one was in the running, as I have an awesome Dillion Jr that is pretty much my #2 or so.
Then I spent some more time playing and listening to it. And fell in love.
    It ain't goin nowhere.

    How's the weight on it?

I have an older Agile LP Jr DC copy that looks nice but weighs in at close to 12 pounds. Way too uncomfortable to play at long stretches, especially with my busted up hip.

This is the one that was sent off, by the way-
    [IMG]
I took it to a band rehearsal to be sure.
No regrets, and I hope he gets good use of it.
It's a good solid guitar, with no issues for him to fight and get discouraged with.
I was not crazy with sound of the pickups, but he is primarily interested in making movie soundtrack stuff-so lots of sound processing involved there, and with both single coil and humb available, it should be a versatile machine.
(and just between you and me- I was never crazy with the whitebread neck on this ;))

I just checked- bathroom scale says 7 lbs.
Yes lots of my Agiles and SX guitars are quite heavy, as well

That's mighty nice of you blowtorch! That's a fine guitar, I am sure he will enjoy it.

Better it goes to someone who will actually use it, then sit here mostly simply as part of a collection of too many guitars.

I mean, there's a core of maybe a half dozen that do see very regular use, routinely.
The rest of them just kinda sit there.

It is fun to know that I have guitarwise pretty much whatever a guy could want on hand, but ...

yeah I've got too much stuff

    So, bottom line-

if anyone has the itch for a Jr with P-90s, i would not hesitate for one second in recommending the Firefly

IMHO, a P90 LP style guitar is an essential piece of gear. I have an Austin LP special copy with a fat neck. Took me a while to figure out the tone settings on the amp after playing strats for so long. Neck PU is great, might replace the bridge. Weighs 8lbs.

I play in a band in which the lead singer plays her deceased father's Austin LP.
If that is any indication-those are great completely under-the-radar "budget" guitars

Is that a Blues Boy G&L?

I have a leftie buddy who I'm pretty sure bought the exact same guitar years ago ( ordered, w/o playing one) because it is beautiful, but those pickups were so powerful and dark.
Sounded nothing like a Tele, nor a good humbucker...Just strong, and not pleasant is my recall.
He has other Teles to play ( has like 32 lefty guitars)

    You're a good man, BT.

I have two Gibson LP Juniors, but this Dillion/Canada SG Junior is virtually just as good. It plays and sounds fantastic.

You are correct sir. I don't know why, but whenever I see a doublecut LP my brain always automatically registers that as a junior

Less wood? The Juniors on that shape seem to be rarer too.
