Egg in a hole? Try it with pizza instead of toast.
What are you eating now that is so boring that you need to ask a bunch of randos on a guitar webby for food ideas? Must not include bacon, tasty sausage or really good sourdough bread, or a hundred other things that make life worth living. What do you like to eat? Have some for breakfast, and put some butter on it. Go on now, git!
Spam and eggs. Slice it or dice it into an omelet. I also like french toast made with a sliced bagel or brioche bread.
I've been eating omelets with salsa and hot sauce.
Omelets with grilled onions, peppers and ham
home fries or hash browns, bacon and baked beans
Breakfast burrito. Many styles to choose from. And always chili sauce!
About 10 years ago I was struck down with some mystery digestive ailment that damn near killed me. For nearly a full year, everything I ate made me violently sick with pretty much one exception. That exception was oatmeal. I literally had to live on oatmeal for a year and I really hated oatmeal to begin with.
That said, a nurse pointed me to a website called "Mr. Breakfast" and there were 147 different recipes for oatmeal alone. I think I tried over 60 of them during that time. Eventually, it came down to cinammon and 2 chocolate cookies crushed up...fantastic!
That site has a ton of reviews and recipes to keep anyone occupied for a very long time.
Mix Kellogg's All-Bran in zero-fat Greek yoghurt. Cheap, healthy and filling. Or a sliced-banana sandwich.
♫Food, glorious food!♫
Well i have a reasonable variety of foods.
- Bacon n eggs.
- Thick Toasted crusty Vienna with garlic rubbed both sides melted butter one side fresh parsley, cream cheese maybe a couple of Anchovies or smoked salmon red onion and capers.
- Good old crepes with melted butter and honey from my bees.
- Good quality gourmet sausages of different mixtures and variety's with different sauces.
- Cheese toasties.
- I very rarely have cereal.
Anyway the list goes on, i just wanted something different, just wanted to see what others were eating to see if there's anything that i liked.
Grape nuts or shredded wheat with magical fruit in center.
someone mentioned the japanese breakfast. that's always great. my other fave is chilaquiles, though more as a brunch thing on weekends, haha.
Really, first thing in the morning. Hmmm i suppose i some times have a hot sauce with sausages.
Yep this Japanese breakfast looks interesting, it's something i've never tried, don't know how i'd go with the raw egg though.
Hmmm just googled it, looks great. Never had that before either, looks a bit time consuming to make though.
I'd say you're better off than most when it comes to breakfast. Consider baking your own sourdough bread. It's a game changer. I started with pre-hybridized Einkorn wheat and never looked back.
And a surf band !
Avocado on toast is popular in Oz.
When I was in the army I liked eggs (fried) , toast, mushrooms and tomatoes. However I was about 25 kgs. slimmer and ate a lot to keep up with a long day. Shave at six a.m. and a 5 o'clock shadow @ 5;00 p.m. As an officer in training I was expected to shave that second day growth or I'd cop it.
Or “two scoop rice, spam, fried or over easy eggs, and gravy all over everything.” Da kine!
While that sounds very appealing to me, I actually haven’t had that since Hawaii around 1984. And now I’m on a low sodium diet, and my wife doesn’t like spam. I would eat a slice of Spam (or Treet?) fried with Mayo on white Merita brand (the holey “Old Fashioned” kind) bread for lunch as a teen.
Mine is usually Special K with a huge side of sliced banana, fresh blueberries and pecans. Or for a quick bite, a cup of coffee with a “rich frosted” [milk chocolate covered yellow cake] Entenmann’s donut.
One goodie we have is Taco Bamba, which started as a food truck and now has at least a couple brick and mortar places in DC and northern Virginia. In addition to many other Mexican style tacos and “Tacnos”, they make a great Huevos Rancheros, which I would eat about once monthly when I was working in McLean. I paired that with a pink guava Jarritos. Or you can get an egg on anything.
Gonna try making these tomorrow, inspired by a rare vegetarian cafe breakfast a month or two back
