Need suggestions from the fragrance savvy old men

Eventually I learned deodorant was more important than cologne.

Of course. I always use a no-fragrance deodorant.
A perfumed one would not hide my farts and bad breath anyway.

But seriously, I am using my fragrance very discreetely. You would have to come up close to me to notice.

And most of the time, I would not like you to be that close.

Ok, not a real big fan of fragrance, but my wife is. She buys samplers of all kinds of stuff.
It really depends on what you like. The samplers are good to try some things. Don't put too much on. Small bit in center of chest maybe.
The samples I don't like go in the trash. If it is overwhelming, it goes in the trash. I'm reluctantly developing expertise.

These I actually used, slowly.

Fresh - good for summer
- Aqua di Gio (Armani)
- Jimmy Choo "Man"

In between
- Polo Red
- Chrome (Azarro)

Woodsy - rest of year
- Dunhill by Dunhill

Women don't expect men to smell like a bouquet of spring flowers. Just take a shower and use some underarm deoderant - that's all they want. Men who leave a trail of "scent" behind them are as bad as the ones who have BO.

I have been using the 90's classic Sergio Tacchini for the benefit of my surroundings for years now, but I think I need something to spice (heh!) it up a little.

What are some good fragrances for grown men (50+) these days?



Warning: Do not suggest Old Spice, I will hunt you down and do terrible things to your nose if you do.

My dad uses Carolina Herrera. I like it too, I usually get a bottle from my mom as a gift but I never remember to buy it for myself.

That said anything you can buy at your local pharmacy should do if you apply it liberally.
