Can't believe it took that long to get to Linda.
...and no Grace Slick yet?
In that case have a look on YouTube for mr rock and roll and this is the life. They're her two biggest singles.
It's not my type of music but I really like both her albums. She's the sole songwriter and main guitarist, considering she wrote the first album at 17 I think it's a great achievement. I love it when an independent songwriter makes it big without having the label dictate the songs, style and fashion.
I remember Bananarama did Venus..did not like theirs, but original...however,
singer does not remember that...she is a tad younger....
ah, shocking blue
what about Anouk?
Donna the Buffalo
Here's a great rock tune by Verucla Salt:
This Letters To Cleo song is another good rock tune:
Elastica (my liking of the song does not condone the use of a bunch of naked dudes sitting around in the video):
Garbage (and Shirley Manson is gorgeous):
This one from The Primitives is more Pop, but still fun:
definately Joan Osborne
singin the blues...
Oh...I forgot this great Melissa Etheridge song...she really sings the hell out of this one.
Why stick to "female" songs?
Neither of these are, but the women doing them make them work--
I remember seeing a band with a female singer cover Mudhoney's Touch Me Im Sick. It was brilliant and has always stuck with me. Sometimes it can be good to go for something unexpected.
I think you should check out Portions for Foxes by Rilo Kiley and then the ten zillion other cools songs Jenny Lewis and Blake Sennett recorded.
How about some G&S
Or is that's not your scene how about Angela Gossow from Arch Enemy Honestly I can't believe that sound comes from her mouth.
+1 The Breeders
Also Lush, L7, Belly, Echobelly, Kenickie and MBV are great female fronted bands
We do 1 non-blonde, but, wow some of these are thoughtful..forgot about..for years
