looking at a potential trade for a custom shop tele (apparently). The serial is 4057 and when I look it up all fender says is “RODRIGUEZ C-1”. The owner said he just knows the specs and what he paid for it $1k. I’m just trying to figure out if that’s fair, and I guess more details if that’s even possible? Any advice? Thanks for helping a layman!

I didn't see "Custom Shop" anywhere in the ad. 12" radius? No thanks. I'd say move on.

He’s sending me photos but it does seem strange to me. Plus it has a hipshot bridge? Seems odd that someone would change the bridge after spending some series money. He said the serial on the back is #4057 which shows up as custom shop but my worry is that it’s a fake. Seems to good to be true, probably is...

    Offer $200, or run away.

It says Custom Telecaster. Not Custom Shop. I'd say it's a personally altered guitar. Doesn't mean bad - but not CS.

Not a Custom. I didn't see where see where he claimed Custom Shop. Maybe he means it was a custom build. Still looks like a Squier bridge to me.

I totally agree. When I spoke to him he said it’s a custom shop and gave me the serial which does show it’s a custom shop on Fender, but he has yet to send me pictures as requested so I’m thinking it’s a no unless I get compelling evidence...

I don't think that is a custom shop tele and if it were the guy would have legit proof etc

Sorry man but it smells funny. Unless you see it and play it or at least have way more info and better pics...I think I'd pass.

I looked at page but could only see one sort of genetic photo, but the guy does seem adamant that it's real.
    That means nothing of course.

I'd say move on as well. That bridge is a wilkenson which isn't a bad bridge but nothing of this is custom. Cheap partscaster at best.

I would add up the parts value and if you like it use that minus a percentage for being used as a baseline for your offer.
Same way I would approach a real Custom Shop. It's worth the used parts total to me.

If he is feeding you lies I would take another 50% off for bull tax.
