So my lifelong friend, Chris, bought a Tele back in 1995 at a local junky music store. The guy told him it was a Fender neck, on a Fernandes body. Im not so certain of the body, as there are zero markings anywhere, and I have yet to find a photo of a Fernandes tele w a 5-hole bakelite black p/g. The neck is what Im curious about. Can any of you indentify it(or offer me guidance), based on these attched photos? Id just like to let him know what he’s got.

The style of truss rod plug leads me to believe that it's a Warmoth neck.

The turtle logo would have been sanded off, and evidence points to that.
I'm not sure about that serial number stamped on there.
It's kind of sloppy.

How does it play and sound?
That would be more important to me than the pedigree of the parts.

:)

Fernandes used to stamp the heel in that place, looking at reference for their 80s guitars. I would think it's 100% Fernandes with a Fender decal added. Perhaps this model: http://www.music-trade.co.jp/f_80000454carte.html

I suspect the pickguard was added to complete the 50s look.

Some of those Japanese copies were really nice and that one certainly looks well-loved.

Lions & Tigers oh Mi !
.

Everything was looking reasonably good for it being 'Fender' until I got to the picture of the back of the headstock.
Perhaps the camera angle is off but the carve of the region where the headstock runs into the neck carve looks odd.

Body neck pocket and other details are off slightly too from Fender.

So it might all be Fernandes.

Looks like a Fender to me. Especially the back of the headstock.

Some 50s style, maybe 52 reissue.

Nice neck but the overspray on the decal gives it away ,and the hole in body Not a real Fender But It is a good copy If you got it for under $400 You did OK

To me, the stamp does not look like a Fender stamp, and being devoid of other marks on the heel, I highly doubt it is a Fender. But nonetheless, it looks like a nice neck, with a nice body.
