Hey folks I need advise. I’m looking at a Brent Mason tele. Are they worth the money? I already have an American pro ii tele. Any info would be appreciated.

BM-7.25 neck radius
AP-9.5 neck radius
Both vintage tall frets. AP 22 frets, BM 21 frets

Probably more tonal options with the BM. Not that the AP can't achieve some of the same options.
Neck pickups will be different and some quack tones with the middle pickup on the BM.

Do all BM's come with the Glaser bender?

Is this a new or used purchase? If someone has taken the near $1000 hit off a new one. That would make it a little more "worth it" to me. As long as I got to try it first.

A 7.25 neck isn't for everybody. I have several and don't have an issue.

I'm sure the BM is a nice guitar. "Worth it", might be somewhat subjective. If you can afford it, play it and bond with it. Then it's probably worth it.

I think its a freaking awesome Tele, but for me it wouldn't be worth it. I wouldn't know what to do with a B-Bender, lol. It may very well be worth it for you.

I've not tried one so don't no how much help my advice will be...

But I do have a signature model Fender which is about the same price new. It's a Tony Franklin fretless Precision and it's the best non-Custom Shop USA Fender bass I've played. It's lightweight, resonant, versatile (precision and jazz pickups) and well made.

However, I got mine used for about 60% of the new price.

I would say try it first, then if you like it, be patient and pick up a used one.

One of the young local musicians who sits in with us has the Brent Mason Tele.

I think it's an outstanding guitar, if a bit unique looking.

I would have one, if I had the money.

I guess I could take my pro ii and do the 920d mason mod. Any thoughts on that. Thanks in advance.

I am, surprisingly, qualified to comment on this. I built one from genuine Fender parts, at least the body and neck. It was sort of an accident, I finally realized that I play best on a 7.25" neck, and while shopping for one, I found a Brent Mason neck, and then a Brent Mason body.

Before I knew it, I had my own custom Brent Mason. Only difference is that it is made from factory second parts, does not have a C.O.A. or a case, and cost as much as if I had purchased one used. The caveat being that since Fender raised their prices, it seems that the asking prices on Reverb have risen accordingly. My guitar does not have a Glaser Bender, even though it is routed for one. That option would add $650 to the price, not including the shipping back and forth to Nashville. I do have the current Joe Glazer wiring in it, It does the same thing as the Brent Mason three knob controls with only two knobs.

My thoughts on this is that it is an insanely good guitar. It is also very versatile, which was the original purpose Brent had in mind when he made his guitar. I'm a little embarrassed in having someone else's guitar, but it is s guitar built for purpose, and it fits it's role beautifully. If you want to go from your country "chicken pickin" gig to your jazz session without swapping guitars, this is your axe. My favorite pickup is actually the Strat pickup in the middle.

If what you want to just try out a bender, I have a cheaper option. Get one of these:

It's a Certano T Bender. It replaces your stock bridge, without any modifications to the guitar, has intonated saddles, and it is a B and a G bender simultaneously. It lists for $299, last I checked you can get one off Amazon for $233, and I found mine for $211. It is a bit tricky to use both benders in the same song, I use the heel of my hand for the B, and my wrist for the G. It takes a coordination I have not yet mastered, but I have only had this thing for about a week. This is my first experience at using a bender. I figured that if it didn't like it I could pull it off and sell it, no harm, no foul. So far I am enjoying it.
