i'm a long way from any big store showrooms and i can't go out to demo a few

    so i need suggestions

i need an amp that sounds like a twin reverb but half the weight

the super champ x2 sounded amazingly close to the twin's deep clear sparkle

but couldn't handle being pushed wide open for 3 hours and it sounds distorted now

i just got a dream gig in a country western houseband so i can spend, i just can't lift

    any thoughts?

    thanks

seems like you might wann get that scxd checked over: if it sounds distorted all the time & it didn't before, that sounds like tech time

Maybe just replace the speaker in your Super Champ with something sturdier and higher sensitivity?

I'm assuming by your description of the problem that you blew the speaker.

Very happy with my Tone Master (Deluxe Reverb) Blonde. Definitely check out the TM Twin!

Certainly seems like something or other needs fixing.

Just picked up a Tone Master DR, and LOVE it! The Twin would be more Tone Master goodness and power. Good luck!

I agree that it sounds like you blew the speaker. Try a EMINENCE Patriot Ragin Cajun 10" Guitar Speaker, 75 Watts at 8 Ohms. I doubt that you can blow that one in a 15 watt amp. No sense throwing out the baby with the bathwater. The speaker will cost about $80; a new amp at least 4 times as much.

I love the sound of my Twin, but would not try and drag it around for gigs. I use the VVT which is about 45 lbs, 40 watts, and a really nice Fender clean that will make any Twin fan happy.

I don't have much experience with 10"s, but in general you'll want something that can handle at least 30 watts. Get a drink, settle down in a comfy chair, and Google "Super Champ X2 replacement speakers".
