Haaa, yeah, I know a few CCR songs that I play and sing well with. I'm saving, "Bad Moon Rising" for if we get some rain comin'. They seem a little raucous for post dinner out on a deck though. "Proud Mary" just doesn't seem to fit this trip.;) Can't imagine the retired judge going, "doo, doo, doo" either.

But thanks. CCR is a favorite group of mine.

Ooooh, love the vibe of "Banana Pancakes". Yup, goes on my serious list so far. Actually, that might fit my solo set list for local gigs. Awesome suggestion.:):):):)

Could do the John Grimms version of, "Ice Cream Man".

    Thanks.

Odd, I still don't recognize it. I probably can't add that one, because the wine tasting group already knows that I have a huge ego already.:rolleyes::cry::lol:

Beware of friends who look askance when "Lookin' Out My Back Door" plays. Just sayin' :) Edit: I didn't read your original post all the way through. Thought you were just looking for songs to listen to and didn't realize you were playing. You're playing on acoustic . . . Well, I'll have to think about that one.

Dang, I love that version. The solos are awesome too and some of the group that I'll be with might be old enough to know Ella's version. Nice, and will look at that one. Not sure if I have the time to learn those juicy solos, but I could probably fake them a bit.:):):)

    Thanks.

You can probably find a playable single acoustic version of this tune out there. I'd love to hear it on an acoustic guitar.

Ha. I see what you mean, but lots of people have covered that, but just not going there. Thanks anyway for the suggestion.

Yeah, darn, everyone that I'll be with has that slant, but it would definitely not be genuine coming from me. You didn't know that and those are beautiful suggestions, so thank you anyway.

A great set list, but nothing that seems to quite fit this. Being a
Stones fan, I already considered, "Dead Flowers", but alas, probably not a good fit.

Thanks though. Songs to consider for other times.

Great songs and already considering, "Harvest Moon", which I used to play, but the others just not the right things for this event.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll probably go to sleep tonight with, "Whiter Shade of Pale" going through my head ... a good thing.

Most of the JJ Cale catalogue, but this one in particular

A bit of Don Williams never goes astray

Maybe this entire show will get you through

Dead Flowers is the first song that came to mind when I saw the thread title.
Backstreet Girl is a great acoustic Stones song and is really fun to play.

But one of the best back deck and/or campfire songs ever is:
