I bought a new Strat on Sunday, a limited edition Am Pro. The store had one on the wall and two in boxes. I played all three. The one I took home with head and shoulders above the others.

One thing I noticed, the necks were noticeably different on each of these guitars. You would think CNC manufacturing would make them very very similar. Not so.

Has anybody else noticed this?

How were the necks different and what about the difference influenced your choice? I would agree and expect CNC to standardize the neck shapes for that guitar model.

The two I left behind were chunkier, with noticeable girth in the shoulders. On paper, I should’ve preferred those. But the one I bought just played itself and it was probably 2 pounds lighter overall.

That, in a nutshell, is why you want play 'em before you buy 'em.

Congrats on the new Strat!

Pics?

I have both a Pro I and Pro II Strat. The neck on the Pro II is noticeably chunkier with bigger shoulders. The Pro I feels like a Modern C but just a little bigger.
