Neck wood options that are smooth and don't require a finish?

    Nobody's mentioned curly claro walnut. Sorry about the subject matter of the picture, but it's walnut with bloodwood lining and ebony backstrap. Lightly truoiled here, but I think it would work unfinished. It's also non-tropical (this is from Oregon) and not heavy.

    Aside from roasted maple, any hardwood that is hard enough to burnish doesn't need to be finished. Jarrah,Bloodwood,Wenge are all fine.
    The only issue is they can get heavy.

    Well the idea of an all Rosewood neck has intrigued me for a long time. Think I'll start looking for rosewood neck blanks. Maybe I need luck wished upon me for that? lol
