image.jpeg I would like to know what you experienced builders think. I bought a guitar recently and I'm pretty sure the info online are incorrect as this was supposed to have a mahogany neck. It looks like maple to me, but I don't have that much experience. What do you think?

Yes sorry, I don't have any tools I was using a nail filer to get that paint off in the neck pocket :)

How about some pictures of the back of the neck?
End grain does look like Maple but the back of the neck and headstock will be a dead giveaway.

The back of the neck and headstock have that plain white paint on (not a see through) and I'm still considering refinishing the guitar not at this moment.

I've never been good at identify wood, but is it possible it is a lighter mahogany? Something like Sipo? Or they could have bleached it.

Just throwing it out there. I'd be inclined to agree with maple.

That very possible. Unfortunately the manufacturer's website changed and the discontinued models are no longer there and it seems to me that they had more versions of the same model (wood wise depending on the finish). It's a great sounding guitar and I don't have complains about it. One can tell the difference between how the neck feels (very smooth no grain) versus the body (a lot of grain and different texture feel) and acoustically very different sounding woods when one puts his ear on the back of the neck and strums a cord versus doing the same with ear on the body.
