I recently acquired a custom walnut telecaster with quilt maple top. I'm super stoked about the body and neck, but the neck pocket is slanted back just a fraction too much, and I'm having to shim the neck slightly to get the angle correct.

What is the best material to use for shimming a neck? Do certain materials give a better connection between the neck and body for better transfer of enegry? Any help will be appreciated.

Anything from a credit card to a business card, makes no difference.

guitar picks work good. They also come in a range of thicknesses, and don't need any carving to shape, as a credit card does. :)

I have used business cards and also brass shim stock, no real preference, I couldn't pick any improvement with the brass, both worked.
