Right, one out of what, 100? It is a male dominated profession but hopefully that is changing. I just thought it was cool.
But thanks for pointing out that I made a huge faux pau, please forgive me.

My mistake, we've got at least 2 really good female builders on the board.

But anyway, I was making an observation. Since you've decided to go all  on me, I'll just add this: You're really showing your ignorance of the profession. Women have been a bigger part for the last several years (some of the women I've noted below have been building for 20 years or more and have made substantial contributions to the profession). You need to educate yourself and look up Kathy Wingert, Linda Manzer, Kathy Matsushita, Judy Threet, just to name a few. There are a lot more than you think, especially hobbiests like us.

Again, thanks for pointing out my ignorance of the profession.[kind of obvious as this thread demonstrates...lol]
Did I say there are no female luthiers?

Hey guys - that's never been a small/medium/big deal here - we are all different in a lot of ways. We should all like to see a wider group of contributors everyone brings something to the forum. It was just an observation.... Let it go...

a 1mm thick shim x 7mm wide at the heel of the neck will get you tilted right back into the zone. Quick and easy.

We've got at least 3 that I can think of, offhand.

Edit: Sorry... I quoted from page 1 of the thread without reading page 2... Not intending to throw fuel on the fire or anything! Carry on!

Maybe I should have elaborated...the girl was a 17 year old lutherie student and this was her first guitar body/build. I was surprised and delighted. Oh wait, I don't mean to imply that I was surprised a teenager could make such a nice tele! Carry on flamming.......

Nobody is flamming you here , sometimes written words on the interweb come accross with a different intent/meaning to those that read them than the intent of the one who wrote them , nothing more than a misunderstanding , no big deal :)

That is awesome that people are taking classes on instrument making at 17.

You could file it but that that takes a really good carpenter to keep that area flat- or shim it.
As your country runs by metric it's 15.875 mm (5/8''). so you need a 3.125 mm shim but 3mm would do it.
Had the reverse problem, too shallow neck pocket, found out I wasn't the good carpenter I thought was. Had to throw away a perfectly good Ash body.
Your problem is very fixable. Cheers from Downunder.

Hey RickyRicardo. If I'm not mistaken Mr Ricardo was known to be abusive to Lucy. Why don't you change your handle, its not funny.

But seriouslly, can you people please lighten up around here? I just wanted some help with a neck pocket and the whole train went off the tracks somehow...
On a positive note, mission accomplished! The tele plays, sounds and looks great!

Maybe that's why David Letterman didn't hire me as a writer.

    (Was THAT funny!?)
