I guess it's just the natural grieving process that makes dog owners go through that "cycle" of despair>sorrow> loss of friendship> gotta have another dog.

Regardless of color, Labs are awesome!! I've been lucky enough to have at least one of each color. This is my third black one, had a yellow, and the aforementioned chocolate. All great dogs in their own right.

I agree and that’s always been the case with me. Congrats to Stratandtele and Josie, acquired after losing our black Lab Jena says “Good Dog”! [IMG]

Happy NDD! Labs are amazing dogs. Never met one I didn't like.

Miz Diane and I plan to go "Pet free" after these last two (cat and dog) pass on. Somehow I doubt that will last very long.

Yeah, I doubt you last 3 months without a furry friend.

Since I'm on your ignore list you won't see this, but that's probably the most profound thing you've ever said.

You Lab owners, what's the weirdest thing your dog ate?

LOL. Miz Diane is already hinting...and these two aren't even dead yet!

Miz Diane really misses our Rat Terrier, Cleo. She's been gone for nearly 5 yrs now. If she gets another, I'm getting another GSD. I've never met a GSD that wouldn't sit down next to me and tell me I'm a rock star.

When my previous dog died it didn't take very long for me to realize how dog-centered my life was - it just felt like a big piece was missing. I now have a crazy little Duck Toller.

    Congratulations, labs are great!

I think once you've had and loved a dog, it's impossible to continue on without one. OP's is totally adorable! HNDD!!

After my first dog died unexpectedly, I lasted 6 weeks without a dog. It was probably a mistake to get a puppy so soon after, but the opportunity presented itself. When that puppy grew old and died, we went about 6 months before getting our current one. Not sure what the right time period is, but 6 months felt reasonable.

Good move. The love you give them is well worth the pain of loss.
