I saw a "too good to be true" price on a guitar case from Amazon. Normally $175-195 and this one was $45 with free shipping. Wasn't sure what to expect but couldn't pass up the price. I was prepared to see a cheaper version of the case show up. (I looked at Amazon again just now and I don't see that silly low price anymore)

Today a HUGE box appeared on my doorstep - It came UPS and Amazon must get steep shipping discounts because UPS would charge me more than $45 to ship a box this size (regardless of weight). The box would have held 3 or 4 of these cases.

Inside I find a much nicer case than I was expecting to see.... but OMG the toxic Chinese "Instant Cancer" chemical smell is strong with this one.

I used to buy stands (70's 80's) from Ultimate Supports when they made quality stuff in the USA (Fort Collins, Colorado) but the recent Ultimate Supports stands I've purchased have been really poor quality. I'd not seen guitar cases branded Ultimate Supports before. This case looks and feels like similar quality to the Gator ProGo or the Mono cases. Zipper works well. Other than the horrible smell - it looks similar quality as other $150-250 cases.

NOTE: It's been just an hour since I removed the case from the plastic bag and it's already aired out quite a bit (or I have a tumor already that is affecting my sense of smell)

That looks like a glorified "gig bag" to me. No offense.
I bought a generic rectangular hard case for my new Tele build from Guitar Center.....on sale.....for about $60 w/ free shipping. (no chemical smell)

No offense taken. Everyone is free to like whatever type of case they prefer. I've always liked hard cases too but in case you aren't familiar with the higher end soft cases. Many working musicians use them and prefer them to hard cases. Here is a Mono brand at Guitar Center just for reference:

Sweet. Cost of a good case is ridiculous now, so I celebrate when I get a decent one too. Congrats!

+1. Consider this a teachable moment and spend the +/- $100 for an SKB FS-6 case.

I wonder construction wise how it compares to an actual mono bag

Certainly looks similar from the pictures

Does it have the gripper part on the bottom?

Sweet looking Ultimate Case/bag - From time to time I look for stupid prices on Hiscox cases (it hasn't happened yet, but I'm patient)

I got a "deal" on a bag that had some sewing needs - not fixed yet, but when it is, my bass will ride in style.
    Peace - Deeve

    edit - AMZN's current offer: $193.10 + free ship

I was going to say, that looks like a knock off of a Mono case. I have two of them.

Nice case. I got a soft side zip up for my Tele; stiff foam, but nylon covered with a zipper and backpack straps. I like the softer cases for guitars.

That looks like a nice one.

    OP is from CA.

So use what God gave you (lotsa sunshine) and de-stink that case !

Lay it out for a day or two , then bring it inside and check it .

    Needs a little more ?

I’m sure you’ll have more sun tomorrow !

Nice looking and good sale price. I'm not going to get on your case about it.

I bought a Hiscox case for my tenor sax about 12 years ago and it was the best investment I've made. Excellent case and you can jump up and down on it without damaging what's inside.

    Re: the stink.

the stink was mostly gone within an hour of being out of the plastic bag it came in. It has lost all of the bad smell now and I'm really happy with the construction of it.
It feels very much like the Mono cases. It does have the gripper bottom like the Mono case. It may look like a floppy case in the pictures but it is a stiff foam that holds its shape and I'm holding the case open for the pictures.
