New Belated/Blemished Pedal Day: Fulltone Fulldrive 1

Picked up a Fulldrive 1 from Fulltone's belms page last week for $99 (MSRP: $149, Street: $120). Not a bad deal, as the blemish is a 3/4 inch dent on one side of the case that must've been there prior to painting as the paint hasn't been disturbed in the least. I can't even get a decent photo of it.

The pedal is basically the drive side of the FD2 with no MOSFET. I did an A/B against my FD2 and surprised at how fizzy the FD2 sounded compared to the FD1. The circuit has obviously been tweaked and on the whole has a much more 'amp-ish' overdrive sound than the FD2. (Not that I'm getting rid of my FD2 any time soon.) Definitely a winner in my book.*

*NB: In all honesty; I do have a Fulltone fetish. :D

I've seen some chatter on the Internets as to the actual size of the pedal, so here it is compared to my OCD v1.7.

(Please excuse the grungy keyboard in the background!)

Is there a battery compartment in the
FD1? I own an FD 2 but don't like the Boost - just use the pedal for recording a bit- just too big for gigs!

Yes, and instead of having to take the feet off the FD1 has the knurled thumbscrews on the side. It also runs on 9V & 18V from external power sources like most Fulltone OD pedals.

Congrats. I got the $99 blemish deal too. It should arrive later this week. I'm super excited. I love my FD2 but always wish I could tweak the boost side. I'm going to pair the FD1 with my beloved modded SD-1.
