Do you sing and play fretless bass at the same time? Enquiring minds want to know…
I try, with varying degrees of success.Do you sing and play fretless bass at the same time? Enquiring minds want to know…
It’s not any more difficult than with fretted. Sting did ok.Do you sing and play fretless bass at the same time? Enquiring minds want to know…
Yeah, and we're all, everyone of us, obviously just as talented as Sting. </sarcasm>It’s not any more difficult than with fretted. Sting did ok.
You’re a better man than I am, Gunga Din!It’s not any more difficult than with fretted. Sting did ok.
Nah. It’s the same. People get in their heads about it. It’s the same notes. If you can sing and play a guitar or fretted bass it’s the same. I think in a band context your brain takes over and starts to automate the intonation. You’re a better man than I am, Gunga Din!
I’ve been thinking about this. See, I’ve wanted to play fretless bass since I heard Floyd’s Hey You. But the only experience I’ve had with a fretless instrument is a fiddle. And they are very finicky…a little pressure changes the pitch a lot. But now (thank you Killing Floor) I’m thinking that the string length is so much longer that (literally) there’s a lot more wiggle room to play on pitch.Nah. It’s the same.
