The Navy designation Unidentified Aerial Phenomena is an apt term.

I don’t think we were supposed to see that. But thanks for posting; I needed a good unsettling this morning:eek:

but , what if they just want some grey poupon?

I know... its a game to see if they can navigate all the space deutritus we have left in low earth orbit travelling at 17,000 miles an hour

I can't imagine what aliens would want with Earth. To discover how to destroy your planet in a couple of hundred years? They could have asked in a text.

because the were not Unidentified flying objects, I guess the navy has a thesaurus? aerial = flying, phenomena = object

words are chains that bind our thoughts, control the vocabulary and you control how we think.

"states that the clips should have never been released to the public in the first place."
    Yeah right...
"Oops...some video footage of the US military testing an unmanned aircraft somehow got released... Our bad. Quick put some over dubbed audio on it."

"In each case, the objects in the videos undertook aerial maneuvers that aren't possible with current aviation technology." And yet there it is.
Aliens? Sure, they're from the planet "Skunkworks"

Sorry don't buy the implied aliens aspect of the story. What's more plausible, the US military is using the footage to showcase new drone technology and used a former rockstar and his UFO group to publicize it's existence while not claiming it exists....or that beings from a highly advanced civilization traveled countless light years thru the void of space, found this little spec of dust and decided to reenact "Top Gun"?
Funny how the Navy addresses this a few weeks after that Russian nuclear powered missile test didn't go off as planned...

reality is the fence we put around the world to make ourselves comfortable. we are dust in a universe so large we cannot comprehend it. To survive we truncuate everything but the merest details, and those we trivialize and obsess over them until our reality becomes the merest threadbare shadow of what really is.

The UAP designation helps avoid unnecessary baggage.

its highly unlikely that we have discovered a way to overcome inertia and can do 90 degree turns at super high speed, without having new material sciences, new propulsion systems and new theoretical discoverys about time/space and then would waste such massive science on drones.

its like being able to create matter, and wasting it making unicorns.

Yep, I have know idea what they are either. So there are objects out there that we don't know what they are. That's it. That's all that we can say about them. No more than that.

actually we can infer quite a lot,
    1. it is possible to overcome inertia and possibly control it.
    2. it is possible to build a propulsion system that doesn't need lifting
surfaces or massive amounts of gas thrust.
    3. it is possible to either travel within dimensions or totally mask an object to make it impossible to detect within the electromagnetic spectrum including visible light and radar.

Some years ago I read many books by astrophysicist and computer scientist Jacques Vallee, in particular, His trilogy Dimensions, Confrontations and Revelations, as well as Passport To Magonia. There were others, but those four are the most important of his works on the subject. His methodical, scientific research and rigorous investigations revealed many startling things. The one that really changed my view of the matter was that the phenomena is Earth bound, not extraterrestrial and has been with humanity for as long as we've been around. At least for as long as any recorded history.

That doesn't seem like it should be difficult to accept as possible, in light of the mind boggling possibilities that quantum mechanics has presented us with over the last 100 years.

In the visual events offered, I am most curious if they were solely experienced on electronic equipment - or were there any corroborating visual evidence on the ground (at any point).

I hope that they are ours and the technology becomes public and available (at least in part) to civilian aviation in my lifetime

Yeah, we invented the internet. 90% of it used for pornography. And also important stuff, like Telecasters.
By the way, am I missing something, or are there no gigantic sonic booms when these things displace so much air, so quickly? Why isn't the atmosphere literally igniting from the friction? I guess we might as well violate all the laws of thermodynamics at once.

    How about this stuff:

    ????WTF.

I like listening/reading about spooky things on occasion but doing so without really forming an opinion as I've never encountered anything remotely of the like.
