    Wow!

I love playing bass! It's something I hear in the music first. It just stands out for me.

I'm also a huge EC fan! Especially his acoustic versions.

Given that, I have to say Nathan East just blows me away. The way he plays, his choices, it's so sweet, it fits so well.

I would never think to go down the roads he goes down. Probably why he does it professionally and I'm playing at home listening to him!!

Two of my favorites that come to mind are change the world and Over the rainbow.

I was just listening to the intro of change the world. Incredible, IMHO.

    Isn't bass great?!!

There’s a reason he’s been arguably the most highly regarded studio bassist of the last 30 years. Absolute stud. Check out his side project, Fourplay.

Love that version of CTW! Quicker tempo and awesome extended arrangement... and yeah, Nathan East is a monster. Must be nice to have a backup band like that.

Oh wow! I didn't realize that!

I did hear something of a side project. But I never followed up. I'll have to check it out now that you've mentioned it

This is kind of a cool video with Nathan East in a trio just exploring in A chord and where the bass can go with that

Best moment (20 years ago???) when Eric and Nathan played "White Room".
The "Uuuuuuuuuh.... Uuuuuuuuuuh...." intro comes from playback but Eric tries to sing the same.
Nathan playes his notes, watches Eric and has to fight not to laugh out loud...

I love Nathan too. I particularly love Nathan when he's partnered with Steve Gadd on drums with EC. Lordy what a rhythm section! Both highly regarded by their peers, both studied music and both at ease in a number of genres. The best of the best. And hey, Willy Weeks ain't no slouch either.:)

Sounds great. Clapton doesn't play with slouches.

His playing does sound a little "studio" though.

    Not a criticism, just different.

Nathan is an INCREDIBLY talented player.....and I could NEVER do what he does. So, with all humility, I have to say, he's not the bass player I would choose to play with. Duck Dunn? Sure. Bill Wyman? Sure. I don't really want a "lead" bass player. I know.....he's not beating down my door to play with me.....but, that's just the way I feel.

Fantastic bassist, a seriously good musician. My top three Jack Bruce, Nathan East, Jonathan Noyce.

I am a big duck dunn fan too!

It's funny re: Bill Wyman, I love a lot of the bass playing on the stones but I never seem to think of him and I don't know why. He would be another great one to dig into.

NE,definitely lead bassist on the second video. But I thought his playing with Eric Clapton's very tasteful and supportive as opposed to being as out front as a lead player..

Jack Bruce! recently I went through some cream and really listen to what he was playing. WoW! they were just an amazing trio IMHO.

They seem to get such a huge sound for three guys.

Nate is one of the best. I've seen him with Fourplay, Toto, Clapton, Herbie Hancock, Phil Collins and others.

He always plays for the song and doesn't try to impress, but he does.

    That's exactly how I feel!

I love it all! Freezing, no choice, overall feel and tone, and the groove!

This sounds silly but I just feel such motion in his playing.
