Anyone use a peavey Nashville 112 for 6 string guitar? I played one the other day and it sounded amazing! Looking at getting one. I have nice casino to sell as well to purchase. Let me know. I’ve heard them as steel amps. I have a steel at home so this would be killing two birds with one stone. Thanks!

I'll preface this by saying that I'm actually a pretty big SS Peavey fan. I've gigged a ton with Bandits and Studio pros, and several other models.

My one experience plugging a tele into a Nashville 112 steel amp ensured that there will never be a second experience. It was awful.

Harsh, hard, stiff, clangy, not fun at all.

correct, it is a Steel guitar designed front end, very clean. I do own one and like it enough for Steel but DO NOT LIKE IT for the Telecaster.

For a couple of years I did a monthly " double duty" gig , I wanted to use the 112 for both guitar and steel. I caved. I ended up carrying the 112 and a Blues jr to the gigs. !

Problem solved !

The thing is though, the 112 is a pretty powerful amp and offers a very clean platform , it does not break up. If thats what you are seeking, it may fit the bill. It just depends how anal you are for guitar tones !

The PV Steel amps have a very unique mid range scoop, if you dial it in wrong you will hate the amp, if you dial it in correctly ( your taste) you may just like it a lot. They can be very mid range strong.

Exactly these are basically Peavey's verstion of a Roland JC 120 Crystal clear tone There won't be any warmth but I would imagine your effects as mentioned above would sound incredible . You never did say what kind of music you play.

I actually really like running my Tele thru Peavey Pedal Steel amps. I haven't played thru a NV112 yet, but I do own a Nashville 400 and a Vegas 400, and those are really great amps. I play strictly old Country and they do the trick wonderfully and reliably. I did play thru a Session 500 for several years. That was one of the best SS amps I have ever played thru...a very clean tone monster of an amp. Heavy...yes! Wish I still had that amp. I use my Peavey Steel amps mostly for loud out-door gigs (my Fender tube amps get the rest, mostly). They sound great and definitely cut thru whatever noises Mother Nature can throw your way!

Yes I have one and use it for electric guitar. I don't play steel. I agree it is an amazing sounding amp for electric guitar as well as steel guitar. And it is built like a brick s#*@house.

Can I ask what your settings are on this amp? I just picked one up last night and haven't got it dialed in yet.

Telecastoff1 is spot on. Not to drift off topic too much but the Peavey Session 500 (aka Hernia 500 by the Pedal Steel community) is a heavy beast! Paired with the 15" Black Widow it is, IMO, great for clean sounds with guitars, especially a tele. It's parametric EQ makes it very versatile (like a lot of the old PVs). I acquired one years ago. One day I hope to build a head cabinet for it to make it more mobile. It's a great sounding beast and can get really loud when called upon.

IIRC, Pedal Steel players voted it the best all-time Pedal Steel amp on the Pedal Steel Forum years ago.

With a Telecaster pregain at 5, low flat or on n 0, mid -6, shift straight up, high at +3, presence -12, master reverb 5, master gain 2.

I tried those settings with my Tele, and everything was very bassy. I do know the previous owner had the Ken Fox Burr Brown chipsets installed a while back, but I believe everything else in the amp is stock. My Tele I'm using for this is just a very generic '92 AMSTD Tele with Texas Specials. The amp sounds dull and like it's almost to the point of breaking up, but volume isn't loud. Perhaps this speaker is weirding out on me. Thanks for your assistance.

Keep turning those knobs. You'll find something you like. They're good amps.

I don't have experience with the Nashville 112, but I used to love playing guitar through an older Nashville 400. The secret to these amps is the mid shift, it's really important to learn how to make use of that feature.

Bring down the lows? Introduce some presence? Those are just settings that work for Maguchi.... you will have to tweak them for your gear and ear.

Something doesn't seem right. "Dull" is subjective so I'm not worried about that, but this amp is made for steel and it should not be at the point of breaking up with those settings. It should have the ability to get quite loud as you bring up the master volume... without breaking up.

I own other PSG amps, and am quite familiar with the mid-shift function, etc., and have used my NV400 and old Session 500 on numerous gigs, always simple to dial in. But this NV112 is being a real booger. I disconnected the internal BM speaker last night and connected my old 4-ohm Bandmaster cab to it, and H-C, this amp came alive, loud and very clear and articulate. So, quite possibly this speaker is suspect at this point. I'll see if I have a different 4-ohm 12" I can put in there and check it out. I really want to make this work.....as it should be very simple. Not my first time with PSG amps thru a Tele.

I installed those Burr Brown ICs into my Session 500 and Special 130. Got them from Ken Fox. It was a good upgrade. Made it smoother and warmer sounding. Keep tweaking the knobs.
