I asked chatgpt to tell me how Don Mare suggestion to use 0.0035 microfarad capacitor use at the output of bridge pickup to get roy buchanan nancy tele bridge pickup quality. It told me cap makes a peak at the spectrum of pickup as far as I understand. And it tells different caps makes different frequency peaks.

I have no guitar , no money to buy a guitar and If I find 25 dollars , I will order 1/12 inches thick stainless - 304 stainless where thomastik uses at double bass strings - totally flat laser cut tele. And I will buy a chinese pickup god knows how it is.

Now I found some Roy Buchanan albums contains short virtuositic solos alone. They are the best Nancy records but extract a single note difficult.

If I work hard and able to spectrum analysis these cut notes , would I see a constant peak or would everything be random ?

Than I will analyze my DIY Steel guitar with thick epoxy coated flat fretless neck and look to the peak and try to find best cap match. Thats the plan and question. By the way I will try to build a earphone amp on breadboard.

Does Nancy solo reveals a peak at spectrum analysis ?

Best,

Are you trying to work in reverse from a peak during spectrum analysis, on a flat steel tele with a Chinese ceramic pickup, to determine what capacitor would help you get to closest to the tone of Roy’s Nancy guitar?

I’m serious asking you that. I understand that there’s a bit of language barrier so I’m trying to help summarize for anyone else that might come along.

While I’m a firm believer in pickups and electronics being 75% ish of an electric guitar’s tone, there’s obviously more to it all than that. If you can get a steel tele and ceramic pickup to sound like Nancy with a single capacitor I’ll be super impressed.

Hello there , I will not use ceramic or piezo pickup but worse copy of tele bridge pickup from china. There is no wonder in that , about in more than 5 years , people solder 0.0035 microfarad cap to the output of tele bridge pickup to get nancy sound. My difference my guitar is stainless and fretless and flat sheet cut. no wood. I dont like the crafts and it really takes years to use the tools if you can afford. Laser cutting is 5 minutes business. If you want you can cut plywood with laser and laminate. Search for Don Mare.

Probably not, but you might have fun trying.

The sound on the recording has changed since it left the guitar pickup. It went through at the very least an amplifier, a speaker, a microphone, and recording equipment. Each step in that process may have reshaped the response. What you can analyze now is the combination of all those things.
