was listening to Nanci's Other Voices Other Rooms cd. excellent stuff. my favorite track is her cover of Dylan's O Henry-esque song "Boots of Spanish Leather"
Just thought I would try to get past that something.
Every listener is different. We all have that someone (that everyone else likes) that you could not get me to go see her with 11,000 horses and 11,000 wagons.
So, when somebody says: "Bubba, I don't like this guy you recommend - something about the voice I can't explain" I perfectly understand. Perfectly.
I even had a bad falling out with some dear people I really enjoyed hanging with, because they liked this and I just cannot stand it.
Hekawi, i like Nancy's songwriting the most. Her Love at the Five and Dime is my favorite followed closely by Outbound Plane. Her voice i like too but it's rather unique. And like Emmylou, Nancy's distinctive voice harmonizes well.
And if you allow a tangent, i'm thinking Dylan borrowed the phrase Spanish Leather from the old song Black Jack David. I think the Carter Family recorded it first.
