So anyone can tell I am enamored with all the new critters in my yard and surrounding neighborhood. The birds of all types, fireflies, deer, our new yard turtle Mr. Turtlelini and the groundhog. Yes he is not a muskrat. No love there. But he has no name. We also have a stray kitty we just call Kitty. I put a bed in the yard shed for her and she likes it.
So give me some suggestions for our groundhog dude. What would you name him? If I get enough popular names I'll start a poll.
Looks like what we call out here a "rock chuck," which is really a marmot. Seen hundreds through my 3 X 9 Leupold ...
"Whistle pigs" are smaller, also called "ground squirrels." Think tail-less squirrels that live in burrows next to alfalfa fields. Seen a few thousand of them through the scope as well. Not much left to snack on, though ...
Why not name him "Bullseye"? Or "Edgar Rice Burrows"? Or "Lucky"?
Maybe Herman or Hermieni depending on whether it’s a boy or a girl. Munch? im not good with animal names unless I can spend some time around them. Gotta know/feel the personality
