New or old, living or dead, any subcategory, hopefully can be heard on Spotify, kudos if they play a Tele. Thanks so much!

Not a Tele guitarist, but I watched this guy play basketball in HS (I got in the game after he had 30 and was sitting the bench as his team was up 20 and our coach put in the scrubs), he became a bassist influence in my life.

Rene Thomas, Belgian bop guitarist. Great tone, sophisticated bop lines

Well, I'd have to say Barney Kessel. Only people I know that would know who he is are on this forum.

I love Charlie Hunter. If I have 100 friends, 10 of them know him, the other 90 have never heard of him. If I continue to name guitarists, the numbers will remain the same. Your average person walking the streets or friends I have, have no idea who Al DiMeola is or Joe Pass. They are not anywhere close to being on their radar screen.

Er, if Joe Pass qualifies, then every jazz guitarist qualifies!

    Mary Halvorson.

Or, frankly, Bill Frisell. Many jazz fans are the biggest jazz fans among their friends.

I like this. Around this joint, though, there's some pretty deep knowledge. Far beyond my puny earthling ears.

Here in Indianapolis, Charlie Ballentine. Just for the record, he's a Tele player. He's got several albums out and recently was reviewed in Vintage Guitar Magazine.
Also, another fine Indy Tele jazz player, Chase Blackburn.
On an non Tele note, Bill Lancton, a great Indiana jazz player.
    Wonderful thread!
