I'm like a tone snake that periodically molts to take on a new skin. This time, I'm moving into tweed style tones from AC30 type tones.

This amp sounds great. It is loud. It doe snot have a ton of clean headroom BUT, enough clean headroom.

I wanted a 57 tweed twin. I feel like this may b more of what I'm after.

If you tonight about getting one, make sure you have a space to hear it somewhat loud. My buddy will bring over his R9 Les Paul soon so we can hear the pairing.

Nice amp. I had a Victoria LPTT and honestly I’d rather have that Double Deluxe. I also owned a Victoria Tweed Super that I preferred over the LPTT. Problem was I sold the Super to move up to the Twin and regretted it as soon as the amp arrived. I had no way of trying it first.

I used to own one also and a '57 Fender........tough call loved them both. Suprisingly they didn't sound very much alike which I attributed to the speakers and different value rectifier tubes.
*May I respectfully suggest you get it out of that plastic AC strip, always go directly into the wall.

Just curious. I live in Florida and always go into a surge suppressor because of our surprise electrical storms we get here. Just wondering you reasoning on your last statement.

Cool amp, I saw one of those on GC used a few weeks ago and was intrigued but ultimately felt it would be too similar to my 45410. I have 2 Victoria amps, they are well made pieces and sound very nice.

I got to play one of those at a guitar shop maybe 15 years ago. What an awesome amp! Congrats. That is one cool amp.

I had a shot at one many years ago but was more into big amps then.
Did you get it new or used?
I'd try one if I saw one on a shop floor but they seldom pop up, or really any Victoria amps.

My first choice for a Tween would be a 5f8a Twin and second would be a 5f6a Bassman.
But realistically for volume and the heavy lifting part this DD might be prefect.

I play 18w TMB clones and have been looking for a 36w TMB, really similar vein but the Marshall is a little cleaner up louder plus handles bottom end better/ clearer.

BTW is that an AD900 or 999?
The 900 is my only always on pedal and I nabbed a second one for backup.
Have two AD999 Pro as well though, with the added multi head which is nice for clean shimmery reverb thickening.

I should have clarified, going into a high quality suppressor is fine.

I’ve had a Victoriette for years, a lovely amp. And way louder than any spec would have you beleave. Lusted after a 35310 for years, but never pulled the trigger.

Have fun with your new amp.

Great insight. I may prefer cathode biased push pulls over fixed bias. I wonder if that has anything to do with favouring the Super over the LPTT. FYI - I wanted a LPTT as well. I like the Double Deluxe better.

I got it used in a trade. I traded a 65 Amps Marquee head and a Jetter Monster for it.

I wanted a both a 5F8A and a 5F6A but feel like this bridges the gap between AC30 and tweed better.

The delay is an AD999 that I goy tears ago used for $130. I've bought, sold and traded so many pedals and this one just remains. The only other delay I've considered is the Aqua Puss.

    Peace!

    Thanks.

What other tweeds have you owned or currently own?

As far as me not digging the LP Twin, I don’t think it was so much cathode over fixed bias as my current setup is two tweed Bassmans, a Marsh HW clone (avatar) and an early Fender non-LTD with Emi blueframes (attached) and I get along fine with them. Actually love them. I think it was more the speakers. I mostly play single coils and the 10’s in the Super and even more so four of those babies in the Bassman just have my number. Also the Vicky LP Twin I had was ordered with V30’s when Mark was offering that option. I’m sure I would of liked it better if it had the Jenens. Later on I learned I did not like the cleans coming out of any ceramic Celestion. But the LP Twin was way back when I first moved from blackface amps to tweeds and I was learning along the way. It was a fun journey, learned a bunch. I know now that I much prefer alnicos in my tweeds. Also GAS comes and goes. However both of my Bassmans are staying.

Btw, that DD and the tweed Bandmaster are my favorite old school Rock&Roll tweeds. I’m not really a fan of single speakers so the DD makes sense to me. Obviously it made even more sense to Mark as he came up with that cool design. Good luck with your new tweed!
