I can relate. I bought a used Tone King Meteor, which is an awesome amp, on Ebay a couple of years ago. Whoever the previous owner was ordered it with a custom bright green color that is not a standard Tone King offering. When I first saw it I kinda wished it was something more "traditional" but everyone who sees it seems to like it. I've had the amp long enough now where I don't even think of it anymore.

You can see my green Tone King amp in the background of this photo:

Never liked burst guitars. Was trying out a Tele at the store and decided to try the CVC hanging next to it just for comparison sake and liked the tone of the CVC so much that I bought it instead even though I didn't like the looks. After taking it home and playing it for a few hours I didn't mind the color so much. Now I like the way it looks, even the mint pickguard which was going to be the first thing to go.

Wow. Every one seems to like the blue? Gotta say I'm genuinely surprised. I might just take it to the manufacturer and see if he'll swap it for a less gaudy one. Blonde and oxblood....

jhundt - It's one of the finest sounding amps I've heard. I'm very fortunate to have it.

Vibrasonic - At 70lbs it needs a set of casters or I'll have to take a rest every 10 meters during load ins/outs. I really CBF changing the tolex either, that stuff is expensive down here.

AC15 - I am glad that mine isn't green! I'm already overlook the blue for the awesome sound within, thats why I bought this eyesore :D

Can't wait to hear it alongside your Vox, Dave! Let's get LOUD!

ac15...what guitar is that?

It's actually an Epiphone Emperor Regent, which has been modified by adding two dogear Gibson P90's, the volume and tone knobs, and pickup selector switch. All high quality Switchcraft electronics.

I didn't mod it myself. I actually bought it already modified a few years ago from someone on this forum.

Cool...I have a ZBD that's almost perfect, but it's a long scale.
Does the Emperor have a "Gibson" scale?

Beautiful!! I think any amp that isn't 'cliche black' is worth a look. If it's actually darker than the pic as you claim, then it's most likely more beautiful. The kitchen set is cool too!!;);)

Yay!! Pascoe Vale RSL here we come...

I heard one of these fired up in Dale's workshop when he was working on my AC30. It provoked an almost sexual reaction...:D
Kinda Fender-ish TMB front end on an EL84 power section. A thing of beauty indeed. And a snip for a RRP of nearly $4K AUD new.

Them's fightin' words, Bill. We're in Victoria-- it's Victoria Bitter (VB), Melbourne Bitter(MB) or Carlton.

Foster's is what we sell the tourists...

Well, I guess you can spray paint that blue tolex black with a rattle can...That's what the po folks had to do after Fender sold out their tan tolex customers, and switched over to that newfangled blackface look!

:)
