Drove two hours each direction this morning to take a look at a used Orange AD30. It had to come home with me. I've played everything in the Orange catalogue, but the AD30TC has always stood out as the best of the best, to my ears. It had some scuffs and such, but I it sounds great, and I think that it cleaned up pretty nicely.

Nice! I have an Orange head, but those cabs are sexy! AD30, eh? I've always liked the looks of those. Please comment on the clean tones after you get a chance. I already know you'll LOVE the dirt. Congrats.

What do you like about the AD30? I have a Crush Pro 60 that I quite like and it has make me want to check out some Orange tube amps. How are the clean and edge of break up tones on this?

Nice! a Rocker 30 combo turned up on CL here, beat but cheap, all new preamp tubes, threw in a pair of 6CA7s and off to the races. Fun amp!

I visited Willcutt Guitars several years ago with the express goal of playing every Orange combo on the market (this has been probably eight years or so ago). I kept moving around the room, trying them all, but I just kept coming back to the AD30.

The overdrive tones just have that classic, bluesy, southern rock feel that attracts me. The Rockerverb is also a great amp, but it has a bit more of a hard rock sound to my ears, and given my personal playing preferences, the AD30 is clearly superior. It's just a perfect amp for me. I had one for several years that I sold in a bout of temporary insanity, and I've been jonesing to get another one every since.

Honestly, I'm not a fan of the clean tones. It seems to lack that Fender-y warmth that I like in a clean channel. But I knew that about the amp going into the deal. I can get good clean tones out of my Deluxe Reverb RI, and eventually, I'll get another '65 Twin Reverb RI (another amp that I had once, and then sold in that aforementioned bout of temporary insanity).

I tried an AD30 when I bought my Splawn Supersport combo. I was mentally way more into the Marshall thing. I always have been. But that AD30 still calls to me.

I no longer have the Splawn. I’m pretty sure if I’d bought the Orange it would have kept its place longer.

I've wanted a good Orange tube amp for a few years.

But, like @johmica, I am not a modern gain kinda guy.... So, I've always wanted to figure out which one fo these 30 watt models was just right. Sounds like the AD30 might be a good contender to check out!

Congrats on the new amp, it looks nice! Love to hear a clip or two!?!?!

Yeah, man. The stock Celestion Vintage 30s sound absolutely fantastic. I played it all day today. And at 30 watts, I can really warm those tubes up in my basement without driving the family nuts.
