I picked up a 90s Marshall Valvestate 8080, in mint condition for $200.00.

It is a hybrid solid state and tube amp, that apparently, was Jim Marshall's favourite Marshall amp.

Plug straight in, without pedals, it does amazing Marshall clean and crunch tones.

Very pleased, to have picked this one up.

Nice amps! I used one for quite a while and it really sounds good on channel 2 which makes use of the tube. Channel 1 does not use the tube. Maybe it is kinda a gimmick but I really dig channel 2 with the tube.

Valvestate, we don't see that name much in this forum! They used to be everywhere, often written off as kind of cheap wanna-be tube amps, sometimes the topic of jokes.
Haven't heard one in a long time, I'm sure they sound much better than their reputation.

Cool! The very first amp I bought for myself when I was 16 and starting a band was an 8240, so I’ve always had a soft spot in my heart for the Valvestate series.

Always brings back good memories of more innocent times. And I’m sure you can still get good tones out of them.

Same here! That plush chorus was perfect for Hetfield arpeggios.

Yes! The chorus was nuts! I had it nearly cranked for a seasick-effects-freak-out during our sets.

    Fun times.

I had one. The VS100 But I had the second edition whitch the valve was on clean channel I believe.

I just used it with a Tubescreamer and was a nice amp.

Sold it because I was not using it for 100€. I shoulda have kept it just in case

Enjoy it, I really like the next generation AVT series.
A Marshall AVT50 is one of my fav amps.
50 watts, 2 channel, 12" speaker, tank reverb, FX Loop.
    Last one I got was $129 . . . .
As good of a deal as a pathfinder.

Nice. I have the later VS100 combo which was given to me last year as it was going to be thrown away and had the head version and cab in the late '90s.

It was a good amp for the time. I had tried other solid state amps of the era and was pleased with its performance and sound compared to those. I tried it out a few months ago at rehearsal and it lacked the punch of the valve amps I've had, but was definitely a perfectly acceptable sound.

I've never tried the 8080 so not sure how they compare.

Cool amps. I have the Valvestate 8200 head. It’s a beast. My pops bought it new for me back in the mid-90’s. Metallica chugs all day long!! Enjoy!!
