I’ve had my Marshall 4102 since roughly the end of the Cretaceous period. But I really don’t ever use it anymore. It weighs 72 lbs (a stock TRRI is 64), and in order to sound like it’s supposed to it’s gotta be loud. Like, really loud. It’s not the type of amp you can just turn down and get a great sound out of. And did I mention it’s stupid heavy?

I used it on exactly one gig last year, and it was comically loud. But it was an outdoor bike/hot rod event way out in the boonies, so it was all just part of the fun.

Knowing I’d probably never use it again with any regularity, I finally put it up for sale several times last year, only to be bombarded by crickets, or flippers wanting it for peanuts. So I’d take it down again.

I listed it again today, for the first time since August. It was gone in an hour. Young guy hit me up and offered a straight trade for a minty Budda SuperDrive 18 combo.

Now that is an amp I can use. And an amp I don’t mind moving. Doesn’t hurt that it sounds like a million bucks and looks cooler than cool.

Happy amp day, to me.

Looks cool! Never heard of those before (disappears off down a googlehole...)
They’re about the best deal going on high quality used tube amps. They typically sell in great condition for half or less what they sell for new because nobody knows what they are. Excellent build quality, and great sound.

Originally built by Jeff Bober (East Amps) Peavey bought the brands and designs. But they’re still built in the US to high standards.

Moi aussi!
I like the shape of the knobs. I also dig that there's no markers around them. Very tidy aesthetic.
The great thing about chicken heads and the like is that they are their own position markers.

I’ve been curious about the Budda 18 and 30 for sometime. Never had a chance to play a Budda. I recently came close to buying one online, just prior to buying my Marshall 4010 (JCM800 1x12).

Congratulations and still curious, please let us know how it sounds at different volumes.

I remember reading Jeff's column in Premier Guitar, and I've always wanted to try one of those amps.

Trades can be really great because you never know what someone will offer till you get that email offer.

Enjoy the new amp, I hope it works out for you.

I love trades. I specifically listed it this time as looking for trades. Because while cash is cool and all, and I can always use more of it, I’d rather just turn one amp into another amp. If I turn the amp into cash I’ll end up spending it on something else. Probably something stupid, frivolous and totally unnecessary. Like the mortgage. Or (shudder) groceries. And then I’ll have one less amp. Which we all know makes one less of a man.

The kids already ate twice this week. They’ll be fine.

I’ll give a full report once I’ve beat on it a little. I only got to play it a couple minutes at the guy’s house, and I didn’t even bring my own guitar. I’m taking it to a gig tomorrow night, though. No better “get acquainted” ritual than just jumping right into the fire with it.

That's awesome! This weekend I ended up taking a hit on my 4500 head at GC. I couldn't get any bites at all on it. I'm surprised you decided to let go of your 900, though. That makes twice, right LOL

Jeff Bober ( early Budda days) actually worked on my '68 Deluxe Reverb, when he lived outside of Baltimore ( maybe still does?) Maybe around 2000
- a Baltimore band guitar buddy of mine gave me the referral as Jeff was a local amp tech

The romance of it didn’t match the reality of it. I was so stoked to get it back home. Then forced to admit that I just can’t use it anymore.
