A9B2E238-63D4-4F10-9C70-E1F6BC8AE0F4.jpeg The FedEx man brought me a nice gift today.

It was a long weekend waiting for this thing to get here.

Meet my brand new Deluxe Reverb Tone Master in BLONDE. Super excited about this setup.

Played it for a few hours so far and I absolutely love it. The different speaker and cut bright cap circuit definitely give it a slightly different voice than the original. (I have my buddies original TMDR here that we are AB’ing). I can get an indiscernible matching tone by pushing the bass a bit.

What is most noticeable is the reverb. There is quite a bit more reverb on the original than at the same setting on the blonde. Same quality though.

I’m very VERY happy that I pulled the trigger on this. It goes great with my new AmPro they I got two weeks ago.

    How about a pic?

I’ve got about 6 hours on it now. I don’t think I can recommend it highly enough.

    Fantastic-looking amplifier! Congratulations!

Is the reverb digital too? I guess there wouldn't be much point in putting a tube-driven reverb tank in a ToneMaster would there?

I have yet to try one of the TM amps - I have a 65PRRI which I love and which does everything for me. And I don't have to move it out of my studio, so weight isn't an issue. But...you know, GAS, etc...

I’ve got both and I like them both.

    Black = Mary Ann
    Blonde = Ginger

I just received mine last week, and have had just a little time to play around with it, but my impression is the same as the OP. It’s a beast, very responsive, and classic classic tone with a little twist.

Thank you. Yes, the reverb is digital. Although, it sounds just like fender normal reverb. It’s pretty amazing to be honest.

Yeah, I get that if it isn’t broke, don’t fix it. I wanted a fender sound back in the arsenal. But honestly, now that I have it, I’m thinking really hard of selling my vox ac30s1. I already don’t take it to church. Now it won’t ever get played.

I have the black one, and with the firmware update, the difference in the Reverb is night and day. Pairing with a 2020 Am Pro Butterscotch Tele as well.

Enjoy, and waiting to her more about it!

For us dummies out here, what is the difference between the two?

After the firmware update, maybe only the look and the new speakers.

The black has Jensen N-12K neodymium, blonde has Celestion Neo G12 Creamback.

As mentioned, the color and the speaker. The blonde is actually VERY SLIGHTLY lighter than the black one.

Fender issued a firmware update that corrected the issue with the reverb. I think they also are offering a firmware option for the black one that has the bright cap clipped. This is stock on the blonde.

Nice, I tried out the TM twin when I first saw one and it was pretty amazing.

I actually bought a Twin TM when they first came out. I thought it was really good but I wasn’t blown away by it like I am this one. And I had my AC30S1.
So I gave it to a young man who was learning to play guitar at my church (along with a classic vibe strat). Not sorry one bit about that either. He’s doing great.
I’m really in love with this amp though.

 Great product line, but instead of just changing the bright cap in the update, why not put a damn switch on the newer ones? It is such a critical tone shaping tool. The Twin has a switch and for the traditionalists the DR didn't have a DI out, lol (which is wonderful on these). Love this line and hope to see it expand but every amp that has a bright cap should have it on a switch. End of rant, enjoy that awesome amp OP! Love the looks and the creamback neo is a fantastic speaker outright, not just great for a neo.

    Awesome! Congratulations!
I have the original. I updated the firmware to “snip the bright cap” and make the reverb easier to control like the new ones.
The “bright cap” removal made a HUGE difference when using drive pedals.
I’ve been using mine rehearsing with a band and it’s perfect. I’ve been keeping it at 5 watts and it’s plenty loud to cut through.

I love you FedEx man! (that's what I tell 'em when they leave similar gifts at my door, much to their bemusement)

Congratulations! Beautiful pairing along with that nice Tele of yours.

Welp, post number 438 that is overwhelmingly positive on this Tone Master thingamajiggy.

    Any opinion on the attenuator?

Also, and this is for the entire TM gang - is the creamback speaker in the blonde really that much more noticeably better than the blackface stock speaker?

(I'm asking cuz I can get a used blackface TMDR for a heck of a deal...)

The attenuator is only good if you like edge of break up tones at midnight when your family is trying to sleep. (I just did that very thing)

    Seriously, it’s just awesome.

I thought my buddies original tonemaster sounded great. So I don’t look at the creamback necessarily as an upgrade. Just a slightly different flavor (less bassy to my ear.)

I think you will be wonderfully happy with a superb deal on an original one. Just update the firmware.
