Apparently it was built with NOS electrolytics. :)

Looks unmessed with, so your tech won't have to weed through someone else's potential mess. That's a good thing!

Great looking amp! I hope you’re as happy with yours as I was with my ‘65-66 version.

Worst gear mistake I ever made was selling that amp.

It’s done! I just have to pick it up. Decided to switch the 6v6s for a known good, anos set of sylvanias. Also one slightly microphonic preamp tube. I’ll probably swap it from V1 to the tremolo power tube.

He also checked all of the resistors that typically fail, and everything was within spec. Thought that was a nice surprise.

it’s recapped with f&t and sprague, and a new power cable. Will probably be good for another 44 years. Can’t wait to hear it now!

Is it Saturday afternoon yet? Can’t wait to try it out.

Thoughts on the original speaker? I’m always cautious and worried playing a speaker that old.

I always thought the original speakers in PRs were very inferior. If you drop a Weber 10F150T in there you won't believe how robust the amp will sound. Congrats.

    Thanks! It’s a deluxe though, 12” speaker

It’s back! Sounds great. Was actually interesting at the shop, he had just gotten in another mid 70’s deluxe reverb. He hadn’t dived into it yet, and it had a celestion of some sort in it. So no idea on when or if it had been serviced.

My amp was quieter, but much better balanced. The one with the celestion was far louder, but had a lot of mushy bass. Happy to have mine all sussed with the original speaker.

Played it a bit more tonight with my R8 loaded with Lollar Imperials. It rips tater chip. The tremolo is worlds better and the reverb is no longer flighty. The tone controls work really well too. I really prefer this to the DRRI I used to own. The distortion is much tighter.

Sorry about that; I made a mistake. I have had great results from a Weber 12F150 in my DR.
