You knocked it out of the park on that one! Wish my amp smelled like smoke. I bought a 69 DR from a dude that had cats in his house, and one had peed in it. Actually, it smelled more like it had been baptized in cat pee. Stunk up my whole house when we took it out of the box!!! Aweful.

I have owned both a '67 Pro Reverb and a ' 68 Deluxe Reverb ( the only real vintage items I've ever owned- needed to sell both, at different times)

The DR was just a giant killer of an amp; with Emi R,W,& Blues speaker it really put out big clean volume/ great sweet tone, clean or dirty. Just a perfect Fender amp!

OP's SF VR sound like it will also be perfect- enjoy!

    Screwed in!

Austin Guitar Repair on Indianola. Tell him I sent you!

Thanks all for the love in this one. As for the legends- it can get loud if I want to, but I just love it around 5.

I got a SILVERFACE CHAMP that smelled like smoke and had a scratched faceplate and a Weber alnico speaker from a TGPer some years back for $300. I busted the guys balls for a week for a partial refund but was denied. Then I busted my own for six months afterwards after getting a bad Emporium buyer rating. And NOT because of the rating. I’m a moron...

Congratulations on a great acquisition! Hope you enjoy it as much as I have my '68 blackline VR for the past 40 years.

Interesting, it's probably a bit of a parts amp, grill cloth and maybe even the cab, but who cares if it sounds great and at that price! When did the V'lux start the glued in baffle? '70 right? Also pull boost..? Check the serial number, maybe it's earlier?

Not sure where you are going with this. It could get ugly. Unless you are serious, in which case I think you are spot on.

I've got the exact same year, and I'm probably never going to let it go.

I seem to recall the seller telling me that '71 was the final year that a pine cabinet was used. If it does, that's a plus, but I'd love it even if it didn't.

My '71 has a screw-in baffle and no pull boost.

It did have the bias balance, so I changed it back to just regular bias. It already had a 3-prong cord when I got it. I don't remember there being any of those "extra" caps that were part of the CBS-era being in there, but if there were, I removed those, too.

Took the whole amp apart and scrubbed it inside and out as best I could then sprayed what I could down with pet odor neutralizer. It still has an odor about it, but nothing like it was. It was awful. It has been dubbed Pepe’ after the looney toons skunk! Lol
