NAD '64 Tuxedo Princeton

Picked this up a couple of weeks ago, just got it back from the amp doc this week. 1964 transition 6G2 Princeton. I'd been eyeing it for a while at a store I frequent. It was pretty much original internally, but the orig speaker was long gone and it had a '67 CTS Alnico in it. I had the electrolytics replaced, and a few of the coupling caps that were bad. The power tubes looked like a mismatch at first, one RCA and one of another brand (brand escapes me right now), but when my amp doc tested them, they were both good and within 1 ma of each other. The CTS worked but sounded pretty tired (and pretty "meh" to be honest) so after trying several he had and a couple I had, I settled on a Ragin Cajun; liking the RC a lot so far. I'll probably get the CTS reconed down the line.

The amp sounds great. I've got a '61 6G3 Deluxe as well, and this one is definitely the little brother. I'll be using it Saturday night for the first time on a gig. Can't wait...

I'd love to hear from anybody with past experience with these amps.

Very nice amp. Great condition. I also own a 1964 transitional Princeton. When I got it someone had got in there and did some work. The original baffle and speaker was gone. The PT had been replaced with one from 1981. I built my own new baffle and went back to a 10" speaker. I put in a Hammond PT and a new cap can. I went with a WGS ET-10 speaker. It sounds great. Here are a few pics and a sound clip of mine. The amp gets very dirty if wanted. Real nice drive. Tremolo is bias wiggle and also sounds great.

Nice Keith. I seriously thought about the ET10 but unfortunately had none around to try out. My 6G3 has an ET65 in it right now that Im lovin', but the WGS guy was trying to steer me toward a G10C, then I tried the RC and stuck with it.

I have had a 6G2 since about 1985. It's got the brown cosmetics but, if I'm not mistaken, it's the same amp as yours. For the longest time I just considered it a practice amp. I was just on the verge of selling it off when I realized what a gem it is. I use it on gigs all the time (full band). It's got a great growl and the trem is heavenly. I still have the original speaker but I have been running a Copperhead in it for several years now which works great for me.
