    Good move. One of the greatest designs of all time IMO. I built mine from a kit 13 years ago, and it has been my only amp ever since. I run my Tele in the bright channel, tone on 12, volume 6-7. Then I just control it all from the guitar.

    A lot of people put a 12ax7 in V1, but the original design calls for a 12ay7 there. That makes the gain a lot more manageable.

    I use a parametric EQ pedal in front of it sometimes, all the time with my Les Paul. The power supply gets overloaded in the bass with humbuckers when the amp is cranked up, makes the bass flubby. I use the EQ to chop the low bass, cleans it right up.

    Congrats and enjoy! I agree with archetype re the covering and grill. I use a 5F2 circuit (which I know is somewhat different), and it kills with my Tele!

    I just took a google cam tour of Enniscorthy. I ended up at Donohoes Bar. Of course, I couldn't go in...
