    I sold my '58 a couple years ago but I still have a clone that I play daily.

    Put that speaker in a box on closet shelf and experiment w/ different ones.

    I had a blast doing that.

    If you're going to do that to it, change the ancient electrolytics out too. Sounds like you want to PLAY it, not sit and stare at it. Good for you. Don't take the chance of hosing transformers with original caps.

    ^But you'll still need to drain those caps before replacing, so you don't hose yerself. ;)

    If you remove the death cap save it. If the amp doesn't have a 3 prong cord I would add one for safety's sake.
