Just picked this up for a steal - sounds great, am preferring it to my '72 Vibrolux Reverb at the moment.

Can anyone shed some info on this replacment Jensen speaker however? I don't see any codes on it like normally, the only info I see is this barcode in the pics below.

I also got the original CTS speaker and original power tubes as well

Not sure about the speaker, but congratulations on the amp. I picked up a '78 Deluxe Reverb this summer for cheap too. Sounds amazing.

Yeah I was thrown off by this generic label..wondering the same.

But yes seems it's been well-loved over the years :)

A few years ago Jensen had a “ High Power “ series IIRC there was the Jet and the Blackbird and a few others. In the 80s putting a EV or similar speaker in a DR was the
“ thing” for SoCal studio players, I suspect someone was trying to get that vibe here.

Not sure what that speaker is, but if it sounds good...

Looks like an amp that's been ridden hard and put away wet. I'd get a tech to check it out before you gig it. The bucks you spend, if you got a good deal, will be well worth it. I have a 74 and I got a good deal on it and after a trip to the tech for caps and tubes, it's been bulletproof for about seven, eight years now.

Definitely. Actually the guy I bought it from is the tech at a local s. jersey music store - he said he got in a trade recently and replaced all the filter caps, etc.
Might end up taking my Vibrolux to him because that definitely needs a complete overhaul

Not sure what you paid, but a new fingerjointed pine replacement cab with floating baffle from someone like JD Newell is about $225. May be worth it.

The codes on the magnet in the second picture point to it being an Eminence. I can only find that "Jensen Tone" logo on t-shirts--maybe someone printed that and stuck it on there?

    Yep that's an Eminence speaker.
If cabinet and baffle are structurally sound they could be recovered.
    Great amps IMO.

Thanks so much! That brought up a lot more in my google search.
And yep, seems that's exactly it, from that code it's an oem from 1998.

Not sure where, when, or why this Jensen label was slapped on there

Road worn and real. I really like my 79 vibrolux but my 79 deluxe reverb is a better sounding amp- congrats!

Cool amp, congrats...if you go the new cab route, check out Mather Cabs too. Peter Mather does really nice work. Had a Super Reverb cab in that kinda shape, actually got a little rickety, Mather made me a great replacement.

Not that it isn’t kinda cool as is....

That side label is Eminence. So funny they threw a Jensen sticker on it. Could be fine though. Congrats on amp!!!

    Cool amp! Congrats!

    I have a 1978 DR as well.
I wired the pull volume boost to lift the tone stack.
Works much better than the stock function.
