I have been stalking this amp locally for about a year and finally pulled the trigger. 1962 Bandmaster. One speaker needs re-coning, and its been serviced (replaced filter caps) and re-tubed with Groove tubes. The speaker is on its way to be repaired and I have a set of NOS brown base Tung Sol 5881 aching to live inside this amp. The trem/vibrato works and sounds as good as it should. Once this is all fixed up it will be living with me for a long time.

Congratulations! Those are great amps. I had one in the 70’s. It’s the one amp I wish I never old.

Sweet! Gotta love that patina even though it looks like it smells like a smoked up bar with a hint of stale beer. I like the fact that you're re-coning and not replacing that speaker. They're only original once and it looks like it's in good hands.

Cool beans. An old buddy of mine gigs one, weekly. The piggyback hardware is still made, if you need it.

Amazingly all the original hardware is there and works. I'd love to know the life this amp had, but we'll never know.

Good for you! Congratulations! Finally getting what you've been wanting a long time is really gratifying. I hope it continues to live up to your expectations and gives you years of wonderful tone!

I love mine. The "harmonic vibrato" tremolo has to be heard to be believed - nothing like the later "bug" trem.

My brother has a 61 or 62 with the oxblood and the tone ring thing. Blew the speaker the first time we used it in like 1987. I got the speaker fixed in circa 2010. I've generally always used various sizes of blackface combos and one note from that Bandmaster and I felt like I had been had. I so wish I had room for it where I am now. Great acquisition and I hope yours has the same effect on you as my brother's did on me.

    Very cool.
I considered buying one a while back but assumed I'd have to turn it way up past apartment level to get to the sweet spot.
I'll be interested to hear your review.

    Nice! I have two 60s Bandmasters - I think they're great amps.
